I was so intrigued by her. She was simultaneously my hero and giving me such second hand embarrassment. As someone who works in finance I could NOT get down with her valuation - at all - and then her weird attitude and nonsensical rambling that was completely not answering any of their questions just made it worse.

Okay but can we talk about this lady?

There were certainly a few very strong films this year featuring leads who were people of color: Beasts of No Nation, Creed (I hear; I have so little interest in a sports film that I can’t bring myself to see it until the Oscars are imminent and I feel forced), Tangerine, and Straight Outta Compton (I had no interest,

oh honey

That’ll do, Bear. That’ll do.

So being in huge movies like X-Men First Class and Mad Max: Fury Road = Zero.

One of the greatest bear “actors”, alone with his trainer Doug Seus, in Hollywood. R.I.P Bart!

No one appreciates subtlety anymore. At least he won a bunch of critics' honors.

I enjoyed Mad Max but Hardy said like 5 lines and grunted the rest of the movie.

and idris elba for beasts of no nation

Will Smith was the only omission for me. I didn’t feel that Michael B or Chiewetal turned in Oscar level performances.

It seems the Academy lacks not just some racial diversity, but it lacks diversity away from a handful of the same actors every year.

I really liked Spotlight and I have all the fondness for Mark Ruffalo that the law allows, but actually the person who, IMO, deserved the supporting actor nomination was Liev Schrieber. He was *startlingly* good in that movie — well, everyone was, but he stood out for me.

Love all the noms for Beasts if No Nation...wait, what?...Godammit! Idris Elba and Abraham Attah were amazing.

I’m stoked to see Fury Road got so many well-deserved noms I hope that movie cleans up!

Yay Charlotte Rampling though.

Glad to see Spotlight get all the Oscar nom love. It’s such an outstanding film, and yet when I bring it up in conversation, so many people still haven’t heard of it.

My mom should have died of non-Hodgkins when I was a baby. She said the thought of my dad raising us kept her alive, that and aggressive chemo. I’m very grateful that she’s not a granola/christian/kook.
