I wish there was a gif for this, but I have yet to find it. Morgan Murphy saying something to the effect of, "a white guy with cornrows is just looking at you right in the eye saying, 'I don't know the difference between right and wrong'."

I rewatched the whole movie the other day, and dead-ass, the entire film is a metaphor for black cultural oppression in the US. And everyone kind of missed it. I think I want to write an article about it.

Just one cornrow or a couple on the side is really cool [as opposed to a headful], but they have to be on the right person with the right clothing.

Let us never forget-

LOL, yes. Or this recent gem: Umm, I'm white and I have baby hairs!

It's like the LA Times EIC saw the Shonda Rhimes story and said "Fuck that. We can be just as tone deaf and racist as you East Coast bastards can." and then went to the bathroom and sent the contents down to the printing press.

I totally understand because I have curly hair, too!

Holy shit if you had told me this was an Onion article, I would have believed it 100%.

Cornrows for all!

Pfft. Every white girl I knew got cornrows in high school.

I'm just patiently waiting to hear from the gaggle of Jez commenters who love to say cultural appropriation does not exist. Or better yet the people who will inevitably compare this to black women using relaxers.

I had an acquaintance from high school do it and it made me cringe-and that wasn't even over the privacy settings. The fetus has a whole personality the entire pregnancy-including posting multiple messages on its mother's facebook wall thanking her for eating organic foods. Blergh.

You're saying you wouldn't feel just the slightest bit violated if someone took a photo of your newborn baby and created a whole fantasy life around it? Like, not even a tad?

Often you'll get users commenting and the OP responding in character as the baby; for instance, from one Fast Company example: "Your so adorable how old are you" "Tank oo."

Wait, so the fact that my mom, a happy new grandmom, posts pictures of my baby to her facebook account, means that I deserve for my baby to be co-opted by creeps? That I should expect and anticipate this?

I just really don't think it's fair to blame these moms for the fact they got overexcited about their new babies and then someone took the photos and used them for creepy roleplay.

This is all very "teens on talk shows who want to get pregnant so they have someone who will love them," a terrible subset of chat shows I dimly remember from my own youth.

And how old are you, little fella?

the Internet is all the proof you need that other people are all either annoying or terrifying
