So much love to you. Grief is one of the loneliest things that everyone experiences.

Ugh. All the love to you. At least when people get hostile in the ED, we can restrain them. Retail workers endure too much!
Shout out to my fellow graveyard shift workers who are stuck with a thirteen hour shift tonight. I’m hoping the ER is kind tonight.
Agreed. I’m team “no one should have guns.” I just mention that it isn’t always a sure thing because people aren’t always familiar enough with guns. And there are some who still get the gun to go off, but angle it wrong. With other methods, it’s harder to succeed, and there’s a window to find them.
Yup. Shout out to paramedics/EMTs. They see all the awful with often very little mental health support.
Yes. I’m upset that they decided that punishing him for crying had to happen before letting us know that he’s gotten upset to the point of crying on such a regular basis. Now he sees a great therapist and his anxiety is being addressed. But I’m in the field. I know how to navigate this. What about the parents who…
This. It seems she knew plenty about how to use a gun. My job is assessing suicidal folks, and you’d be surprised how many have tried to complete suicide by gun, and have failed because of user error.
Something needs to change in our schools. My first is in first grade, and I have the advantage of being a mental health professional— there has already been an abysmal show of support or comminication regarding my kiddo, and it took us going to prent teacher conferences to discover that my son was exhibiting intense…
A coworker of mine used to be a paramedic. He told me that the same thing happened at a Walmart— no one called it in because they thought it was Halloween decor hanging from a tree in the parking lot.
i was working my internship at a community behavioral health office doing psych intakes. I was asking a gal about her mental health history when she suddenly switches from her flat, “I don’t give a fuck” affect to very energetic and urgent, asking, “where’s your bathroom?” After she left, I found that the chair was…
I just read his Twitter feed. In related news, drinking time has started.
Well, the church just barely stopped publishing a book by a dead prophet that says it’s more virtuous to die protecting yourself than to survive a sexual assault. So yeah. You did do something wrong. https://bycommonconsent.com/2016/04/28/rape-and-the-miracle-of-forgiveness/
It is a religion where it is worse to be gay than to abuse your spouse.
Get it.
Liberty and justice for all. How dare anyone suggest otherwise.
100% how they’re responding isn’t okay. You’re being vulnerable and brave, and if anyone should be there for you regarding sexual assault, it should be your parents. As a parent, I wonder if they are dealing with the fact that this happened to their kid and they couldn’t protect you when it happened. Not that it makes…
Throwing Shade is hands down my favorite podcast. “A weekly podcast where we take a look at all the issues important to ladies and gays...and treat them with much less respect than they deserve.” Two comedians, both feminist and pro LGBT+ rights, and it’s balming to a soul that hears way too much awful related to…
What happened to you mattered because you matter. Hugs.
I don’t know what’s worse— continuing with abuse or it being so effing common that it doesn’t even register for him.
The picture loaded before the text and I full on realized I could not handle a Tig and Stephanie breakup.
