Only thing that worried me was the acting director of DHS on NPR this afternoon unable to shed light on any specifics of what Texas itself had done. Maybe she was being vague on purpose? Anyway, here’s hoping Abbott managed to get things together…

Yeah I think we forget Stateside that just because Scandinavian governments might do more in certain areas (I.e. Maternity leave) sexism can still be a major issue.

As Jenn says, the Wallander series by Henning Mankell is fantastic. I also like Jo Nesbo’s Harry Hole series (esp. The Snowman) and Samuel Bork, both from Norway. Yrsa Sigurdottir is my favorite out of Iceland.  

Yup, I read a ton of Nordic crime fiction and it fits the bill. Guess those books are reflective of real phenomena.
