Great point. I’ve felt like it’s a chicken/egg issue for a long time now... Magazines nitpick dumb stuff, buyers now expect every car to have power seats with leather because the Corolla finished 3 happy points behind the Audi A8 in Consumer Reports’ vehicle dependability studies..

Every other manufacturer, like Toyota and their Camry that’s still offering the same engines as it did a decade ago? Or the 4Runner that this very blog featured today? Or the Tacoma, basically unchanged (except for visuals) since MY2005?

Except that they weren’t! Cars used to be like Legos! Changing a grill or tail lamp isn’t an update. Jalopnik, just today, posted about the 4Runner, which has had 3 or 4 different visual changes. They call the Camry old, too, and that car has had a zillion visual changes.

Or is it that the automotive media has unrealistic, environmentally unsustainable demands and desires when it comes to building completely new vehicles?

I think you maybe drive too many brand new cars if you think the 4runner isn’t comfortable, together, etc. I mean... It’s not a sports car but compared to a huge chunk of what’s on the roads it’s fantastic. Even compared to your typical 2005-2015 pickup from any other brand. It doesn’t feel cheap and weak like most

Ad unless you’re in a traditional taxi-filled city, cabs take longer to pick you up.

The world revolves around NYC, dontchaknow.

Our teachers union went on strike for a day this week. The district may end up in bankruptcy... And this arena is boring! It’s not impressive inside. Like... What’s th point?

... good at messing with my commute home and going out downtown at night!

A large volume of verbose hyperbole?

A+ would nihilisticate Arby's again.

Consider them chalked. And also chocked.

It’s better in purple.

I think that explains the rumble I felt during dinner.

But our reality is that there aren't just two sides.  And even if you assume everyone is on one side or a other, there are plenty who have mixed feelings. It's false logic to say that anyone who disagrees with you is on "the other side" and that they're wrong since your side is the only possible correct side.

Or.... Maybe people should have mufflers on their gasoline engines?  I mean... I don't even like motorcycles of any kind but they ARE quiet if you leave the muffler on!

Except it just sounds like a LSx V8 OHV racecar. Because it is. And that’s kinda boring.

It must be difficult to take joy in life.

Your mandate to pick a side is even worse. By telling one side that their view is irrelevant you only serve the purpose of maintaining a divide.

To be fair, this is Jalopnik. This definitely isn’t a news page unless it suits them to invoke journalistic integrity.  It's just entertaining reading, really. You'll go nuts if you take them too seriously. They don't care and it's not what they're here for anyway. :)
