I wonder if the increasing EV numbers are still predicted to push oil demand way down. I think we would all love to see gas prices drop due to lower demand, and for the countries (and corporations) that make money pumping oil to take a big hit.  It’s hard to see any downside to Russia and various Middle Eastern royal

No they didn’t. The right & left half’s of the floor pan were spot welded to the tunnel. Yes, each piece was stamped but the tunnel was much thicker than the floor pans...

Yeah, no.

Welding steel sheet metal is a hell of a lot easier than welding cast aluminum. It is also much easier to repair sheet metal post-accident than aluminum castings. It’s just another thing that will lead to more disposable vehicles.

This is almost the exact conversation my wife & I had last night about the ‘gigacasting’ thing. We are a blast at parties, I can assure you.

If such a car comes into existence—cheap to own but expensive to insure—how does such an outcome help Joe Consumer? More money out of JC’s pocket is still money out of his pocket—whether it goes to the manufacturer or insurance company makes no diff whatsoever.

Yeah but Clarence Thomas insists we need to be “consistent with the Nation’s historical tradition” of carrying muskets, dying of tuberculosis, and shitting in holes in the ground.

Clarence Thomas, stated “the government must demonstrate that the regulation is consistent with the Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.”
