I couldn’t exactly remember how it came about, but I, too started with the set and now I only have the pepper mill. I may have had a similar experience, because I have never bought another salt mill.
A reasonable decision. If you wanted to precisely describe their thinking, it’d be “Occam’s nub”, but that’s not as snappy.
