We bring up income inequality not as an excuse or as somehow giving permission. It is impossible to ignore that crime of all kinds, especially this sort of crime, directly relates to the size of the income gap.

I feel like the Cullinan is actual luxury; a Bentayga is just a regular SUV with a bunch of tacked on crap. It is to luxury what a hotel room in Dubai is to a stay at a château.
There was an NPR piece on a Lexus that went from NJ to Turkmenistan, but it’s mostly a human interest story. Worth a listen, though.
I was unaware that Electrify America was part of Volkswagen’s detention. The fact that these stations do not work makes a lot more sense now - just as how the penmanship for when they had to write “I will not cheat on diesel emissions” 100 times was somewhat subpar.
What’s amazing to me is how many Americans are willing to spend more money on imprisoning a person than housing that selfsame person.
They used to - I always read their tests in Teknikens Värld, and they often collaborated. I have a mid-80s issue of TM in which they are comparing sauna aggregates, which is amazingly apt.
Yep. I think Tesla already got us past the hump of EVs having been uncool; Lucid and everyone else are still fighting yesterday’s battles in trying to make EVs sporty and prestigious.
I’m sure it sounds weird, but does anyone actually need that power (especially Uber drivers)? If EVs are about saving the environment then I think efficiency should take the front seat. I would consider buying a small, cheap, EV wagon with ~150hp or so; one with buttons and manual controls. I have no interest in 1000hp…
People just watched too much science fiction. While sci-fi has often predicted things that ended up becoming true, humanoid robots are merely a plot device and it makes little sense to try to make them.
Germany has become very different to deal with when shipping from outside the EU. I sent a friend eight 3D-printed sets of automobile wheels in 87th scale, and two dashboards in the same scale. We are talking like three grams’ worth of plastic.
Worst comes to worst, I’ll ship one from Japan. I bought a ‘93 245 Classic 5-speed with 240K miles (!) and it was my daily for years. It saved my life when I fell asleep, driving home from grad school. RIP, Ylva.
Sounds like a silly interpretation of the rules. I imagine they’ll just install pre-facelift parts on Aussie-market Model 3s from now on. I love hating on Elon and his fans, but this is a bunless nothingburger without cheese.
Tekniikan Maailma always did the most serious tests of any motoring magazine. Like if Consumer Reports was run by serious engineers who also happened to love cars.
I recommend getting one of the gasoline-fuelled Eberspächer heaters that people used to put in Volkswagens.
Since the article doesn’t say the car has to be new (I’m reading carelessly on purpose), I’d find myself a Volvo 240/740/940 with less than 50K miles on it.
What about gravity?
This article reminds me of why I admire Toyota so much. They care about their heritage, they care about what they’re doing. Everyone says they do, but action speaks louder than words. I also like that it will remain in use!
I like simple and minimalist because it implies lower cost and fewer things to break - but I don’t like it when it means lower functionality and the quality remains ho-hum.
I’m going to carry a ham with me at all times.
I was ready to pay $400 extra to get a white fridge specifically to avoid the pointless, stainless trend. Luckily, it seems that many others feel like I do and there are more and more offerings in white once again.
