For sure. Added expense for inspections, massive expenses for repairs. They all kick the can down the road for as long as possible and plan on selling before anything collapses.

It’s only happening because people are signing up for this. If people weren’t willing to sell off their (and others) freedoms, bit for bit, for a pittance then we’d all be better off.
The only car dealer near my town sells Buick and GMC, so my area is crawling with those two brands. It’s mildly unsettling, makes me feel a bit as if I am in the Truman Show and this season is sponsored by Buick/GMC.
Speed will come next. And as people accept this kind of thing, Snapshot-type programs will soon become mandatory. Which will not allow any more “you do you.”
Well, you know, it would cause all sorts of complications and you’d generally be unemployable.
What’s funny is that Local Law 126 of 2021 introduced required periodic inspections for garages, but the first cycle reports are not due until December 31, 2023. Garages are undergoing repairs left and right across the city so as to not be fined or closed down.
My first thought too, but felt somewhat embarrassed about the way my brain works since there was a death. Glad I am not alone.
Anyone who lets themselves be tracked like this deserves it. (yes, I have a smart phone - not having one would be akin to being a full time nudist)
Under no circumstance will I welcome electronic snooping into my car. This will never end well. I would have to have a hole in my head to consider giving up yet another scrap of freedom to potentially save $100 bucks a year. The thought of having to second guess my braking is simply disgusting.
Not a watch nerd (I lose watches and break them; can’t have a nice one any longer) but this is the absolute stupidest thing I’ve seen this week. Utterly pointless.
But someone reporting that you have a gun means that a search is not unreasonable.
I mildly dislike them for that very reason. “Hate” is a bit strong.
Also the best sorbet flavor by far.
I know - there are even laws on VOCs in apartment alterations and so on. Who thought they’d be good in a car while killing off braincells elsewhere?
I like it because the VOCs remind me of the joy of building model cars when I was a kid. Solvents, glues, thinners, paint - all toxic and killing brain cells, but with happy memories attached. I would get quite woozy until my mother would come open the window.
In no way invalidates skeffles’ point. If anything, it just provides another company one can sue.
I think Ford is still licking their wounds after “Utopian Turtletop” (look it up if you don’t know what I’m talking about). But I am still calling for COTD for this.
This asshole wants a shooting brake variant.
I don’t like Mustangs, I hate SUVs, I don’t like waste, and I have a fondness for underpowered, tiny-engined cars. But I love this. Good to know I can still surprise myself.
We could have trapdoors that trigger at different weights.
