Sadly I cannot find any useful statistics, but apparently 1,088 bystanders were killed in police car chases between 1994 and 2002, so you may have a point. That’s about 120 people per year.

Nope, just pointed out that you missed the point of Jalon P. Niklaus’ post which is:

Just out of curiosity, what should society do about car jackings and other violent crime? Should all crime be ignored?

You sure about that? I have only ever had a gun pulled on me once and I didn’t feel right for years afterwards.

Sorry, whut? How is that supposed to work, exactly?

No, but death may indeed be the consequence of car jacking followed by running from the police.

I think the important point here is that someone had a gun shoved in their face and their car stolen, and without some sort of response from the authorities they will keep doing it. Whether or not the car is salvageable, totalled, or chop shopped is beyond irrelevant.

I don’t think ignoring car jackings is a reasonable course of action. This simply doesn’t compare to car chases for traffic violations.

It appears they consider foreigners undiscerning consumers of Japanese media.

I reckon they’re referring to the popularity levels when new. Also, some things may have been lost in translation.

Toyota Caldina TZ AWD - it’s the station wagon of the Corona. A very plain jane car, I just don’t want to be another person driving an Outback.

Just got the “Request to Pick Up Cargo” from the Import Guys a couple of hours ago. Can’t wait to see the thing I bought back in August...

There is also the problem that if you don’t go after copyright violators then you lose your ability to defend your copyright at all: “If you don’t take adequate or sufficient, reasonable means to protect and enforce your IP, then you run the risk of losing your IP rights.”

Reviewing is not the same as posting long videos of others’ content. This is the quivalent of Jalopnik posting R&T’s reviews and photos with a voiceover.

Pretty sure Siskel & Ebert cleared all the footage they used. It’s called copyright.

Yeah, I am not getting enough information here to form an opinion from.

Holy crap, it really sounds like F1. I chatted with the owner of one at Lime Rock while he burbled along at walking pace, which didn’t really prepare me for this noise.

The fuel efficiency rating lends itself to all sorts of shenanigans. Also, there would be no benefit to driving economically - red light racer pays no more than the hypermiler, not to mention all the a-holes who sit and idle for hours.

In Sweden, this has become sort of a tradition (although it’s a straw christmas ram being burnt):

Meh, this guy could have easily untied it. Also, the fact that someone who can afford a $70K car doesn’t know how to use the trunk nor how to fold down the rear seat is kind of staggering to me. Maybe the car was an early Christmas gift and this was his first drive in it?
