All the Rams need to do is just improve at, uh, football.

*Fitzpatrick not included as part of completely new team.
So after the Cam Newton officiating fiasco on opening night, the NFL apparently got everyone together and told them they need to start paying attention to this concussion stuff, like for realsies.
I give Kaepernick a lot of credit for the things he's done after starting his protest. He's been given thoughtful answers and been engaged with people about it. He's committed to making real, significant contributions to his cause. And he's shown an awareness, IMHO, of the optics of his protest.
I don't know where (if there even is one) the line crosses from patriotism into nationalism, but much of what's called the former in the US always feels more to me like the latter.
Sam Bradford will stay in the league until every team has given up their first round pick to get and not play him.
3rd and forever turns into 1st down for a (legitimately called — but still) 5 yard hands to the face penalty. There's some room for improvement in the penalty system.
I dust off my Disqus account mostly just for this column, so thank you John for the column and for keeping it around. Best of luck to you with all you have coming up. Welcome back fellow B&Ters!
I did a literal spit take the first time I heard Mantis Toboggan. So I guess that wins for me.
Kudos to Teti — I guess — for managing to sift through and sort out these Simmisms, but much of the praise here is dead on how I imagine Stockholm Syndrome manifests itself.
That's a good one; I kind of lost track of him after he left ESPN.
It's such a weak poke to make, too. I mean, you're talking about a guy who has a legitimate claim to being the greatest player ever. Any response to that kind of starts and ends with I couldn't hear what you were saying over the racket of his rings clacking together.
This seems as good a place as any to point out that Alabama's onside kick in the CFB championship game was some kind of Platonic Ideal of onside kicking. The only thing that spoiled it was that freaking 'Bama had to be the one to do it, but great googlymoogly was that a thing of beauty.
There are people who can't stand Collinsworth, which is something I just don't understand, especially since their ears were probably being violated by Simms just 45 minutes earlier.
Grantland's shuttering has been my personal worst thing in sportswriting in ages. I tolerate (just barely) some of the MMQB stuff, but haven't found any other publication that I make it a point to read. B&T is my special Friday treat.
Honest to god, my first thought when the Coin Flip That Wasn't happened was something very close to "OH MAN! I can't want to read about this on B&T on Friday!"
Oh yeah, that's making Simms look incompetent.
I live in LA and if there's any particular excitement about getting the Rams (and possibly the Chargers) back, I haven't noticed it. It's hard to overstate just how much of a bandwagon city it is. The NFL will print money here regardless, but the team(s) will only capture the interest of the city if they win. No…
"Let's see what Mike Carey thinks" — words spoken exclusively by CBS employees.
Boy oh boy, did Fitz turned back into a pumpkin at just about the most inopportune time or what!?
