I’ll try my best to stick it out and see how it goes, but I’m not optimistic. I’ve been reading Jalopnik for years and somehow they keep finding ways to make the Kinja sites worse instead of better. And that content is as well-suited to a blog-style format as the AV Club is not.
I saw the Replacements a year or two ago, so very obviously not their heyday, but given the number of lackluster to outright bad shows I've seen from reunion or past-their prime acts (JAMC being the worst offender), they put on a far better show than I was expecting I, so I was happy.
Maid-Rite was one of the stops on Alton Brown's Feasting on Asphalt. Great mini-series if you haven't seen it.
I was there too. They should've played there again. They're playing in the Bay Area and San Diego in venues of about that size. I saw them a couple times at the Wiltern, which were easily the best, but those days are gone.
I've seen them in concert a bunch of times and they're one of my favorite acts.
Only disappointing thing is that they're playing the Hollywood Bowl, which is just too big a venue. Still gonna go, of course.
"La Cienega Just Smiled" is probably my favorite song of his, but "Lucky Now" is close behind. Just wish it were longer; it almost always gets a repeat play when it pops up.
Stolen from somewhere else, but seems especially appropriate here.
A long, long time ago (the end of October), when Belichick traded Collins to the Browns, pretty much anyone with an audience of more than 3 people were all firing off their version of the What-Was-He-Thinking-Belichick's-Really-Screwed-Up-This-Time hot take. Not that I can blame them, because in the wake of the…
Still a better plan than anything the 49ers have done the last two years.
If you guys haven't seen the whole Sound FX video of the Super Bowl, you gotta watch it: https://www.youtube.com/wat…
I get to distract myself from real life today by having a little out of town trip with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. And it looks like the Niners are getting Shanahan, so that's good too.
Also pro: the Law and Order dun dun on the replay break. I still like it.
The Rose Bowl might (I'm honestly not sure what their position was), but I know for sure that all the old, rich NIMBYs that live around it pitch a fit every time the Rose Bowl gets used for anything. And it almost always works.
Niners fan since forever. I was in middle school during the height of the Dallas rivalry and hated them for years. Having both teams be mediocre at best for 20 years has kind of softened that, though, and amazingly, I actually find myself occasionally not rooting against the Cowboys these days.
I'm not gonna defend much of anything ESPN does.
I agree, but presume it's because Fox and CBS are doing ~six games a week compared to NBC's one, so the budgets and talents are spread much thinner.
The only thing I can root for the Seahawks to do is lose.
Yeah, well….I'm a Niner fan. So I guess there's the draft to look forward to screwing up.
I watched that game and I'm still not sure why I bothered.
