In Britney’s defense, it’s hard to remember faces as distinctly unique as Taylor's
1. You don’t know my life
This is a very embarrassing conversation to have!! I was an intern coordinator for my group and had to speak to one of the other coordinators because their female intern wore a skirt with no panties to work, and sat at the elevated tables (puts the seat almost at eye level with the lower tables) with her legs open. To…
there are plenty of sleeveless looks a woman can wear that would still qualify as professional
If you’re covering an industry, like say, politics or banking, it’s smart to follow their dress code norms. And trust me, in plenty of industries bare shoulders will get you a shitload of disdain.
Dude, try my 4" heels on for size, and don’t forget the pantyhose. Those things are like molten lava on your legs, as they trap the sweat from evaporating. If you go to the bathroom, it’ll be like peeling a wetsuit off you, forget getting those dirty bastards back up without ruining them. You might as well just put on…
But how many male reporters are going to be wearing sleeveless shirts? If they were, guaranteed we’d be talking about that right now. It just doesn’t happen. Wanting people to show a little less skin in a professional setting doesn’t automatically make it sexist. If I had a male employee, there is no way he’s be…
Why was your dad wearing leggings and a crop-top?
Maybe not exactly the same, but pretty damn close. If you’re trying to interview people it helps to look credible and professional.
If you threw a wedding at the Four Seasons would you want people to show up in shorts and tank tops?
Really? I realize the journalists don’t work for the RNC, but it’s hardly uncommon for people working at a venue to have more restrictions on their attire than regular attendees. I don’t find it all that strange that a reporter would be expected to dress more professionally than a delegate or guest.
I’m admittedly a very casual dresser if left entirely to my own devices, but I’m also not one to bitch about formal dress codes I may want to wear jeans to work, but the venue I’m working in has every right to tell me to dress more formally.
Same here. I said that while I don’t want a throwback to the values of the 60s, but I’d like to go back to the fashion values that dictated you dressed up to fly or go to a casino, and my husband called me “bougie”. Maybe so, but I don't want to sit on an three hour flight next to a guy wearing Garfield pajama pants…
Speaking as a former reporter, just because the people you are covering are dressed as slobs doesn’t mean you should.
I suppose you’re right, even in a worst case scenario (one staffer told one reporter to cover her shoulders when covered shoulders were not part of the official dress code or the notice put out by Zatkowski) it is a very minor issue and not really newsworthy compared to how awful the GOP is to women in general. Didn’t…
there is a difference between attendees (guests) and journalists or staff (working) you can reasonably expect people who are being paid to be there to be dressed professionally.
Absolutely, but to be reasonable, I saw nothing but a sea of jackets, ties, and shirts on the men. Not as much room for error.
Yes, me too. And I actually run a small firm and our dress code is incredibly casual. But there is a time and place and a political convention is not it.
My favorite is the naked lady with I AM GOD written on her body. I mean, that’s what I tell myself every time I stand in front of the mirror. Nailed Feminism, this one.
