I will be watching this so hard

Do you even know what Latinx means?

Theoretically sexist because in general the idea that skin is distracting has roots in sexist ideals (female nudity is inherently sexual, men can’t control themselves, Madonna/whore complex). I don’t care if people want to come to work naked but I also think that if we want to snark over GOP prudishness we should pick

Fine enough to have a difference of opinion. In both the finance and professional services jobs I’ve had (Philly, Cali) that shirt would have been considered inappropriate without a sweater over it (eg I never saw any of the many young women wear a sleeveless shirt w/o a cover up). Outside at lunch, late night desk

OH MY GOD. That conversation is still above my pay grade. Thank goddess for HR.

Fair enough but it’s like a weather-based departure from the norm, right? Back in my finance days (though most of our capital base was liberal charities), we were allowed to wear snow boots on blizzard days. And guys could wear polo shirts in the summer. What’s the temperature in Cleveland today? (Checks) looks like a

Whoa whoa whoa. I’m also not upset about men wearing suits—any relative liberality of women’s dress codes is the result of women agitating for their rights in the workplace, as well as a healthy dose of sexist male gaze. My own mom had to organize a protest at her high school to be allowed to wear pants. Women have

I agree in principal but understand that for most people, showing up to a wedding in a bikini would not be acceptable. I prefer to choose my battles, eg access to reproductive health vs. a polite request to wear blouse with sleeves. Not all of life has to be a battle.

😂😂😂 I wear jeans every day but this was still fantastic

They don’t let they don't let you wear a polo shirt in the summer?

Right, but that’s kind of their point. Let’s focus on the “c*nt” and other anti-women policies and not on a report of one person being asked to wear a top with some shoulder coverage.

The DNC’s dress code is “business casual,” a term which is generally interpreted to mean wearing at least minimally-sleeved tops.

“It was mainly the guys for me this time.”

As far as our available evidence, one staffer has done this. I don’t know why Anna extrapolated to “staffers” in the last paragraph.

Agreed. Sleeved tops are standard in most professional environments in the US. I think the theory behind it (skin is distracting) is stupid and at times sexist when used as a double standard, but asking people to wear sleeves is not any more or less sexist than 90% of the corporate environments out there.

I just want to make sure I understand what is newsworthy about this. That reporters on the clock at a major political event were asked to adhere to the bare minimum of business casual dress? Eg, tops with sleeves, jeans on the nicer side, no tennis shoes. Or is it that one RNC official got aggressive to the point of

TBH this looks like a pretty fun crew.
