To be fair, for 25 cents the waltons would take turns sexually violating your grandmother while eating your children.

I had the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado Duramax for a week, and I had trouble seeing over the hood, to the point where the head-up display was cut off. Most people are not as short as I am—but even after parking the car and lifting myself up, I still felt like I didn’t have enough of a sight line to make a rapid-fire

Agree. I feel I can place the agile car more safely, and my target size is reduced. Also response is better at emergency extremes.

Do you really need to complain?

My whole town is full of these monstrosities. I just ignore them mostly (free country)  but I have very little patience if they cross my path in some way.

I can speak from personal experience that it does feel nice to drive something larger. You, the driver, feel a hell of a lot safer.”

I grew up in 60's and 70's Ford F150s and F250s. They’re reasonably sized trucks from an era with unreasonably sized cars and the term “compact parking space” hadn’t been dreamed up yet. (A time when the original Ford Maverick was considered a “compact car.”)

Canada too. The Invasive species comment in this thread is pretty spot on.

The trucks are too damn high!

“customers prefer more purposeful looks.”

I was out in the Miata yesterday to run an errand with the million other people who decided to venture out on the first Saturday not in lockdown since Harper was PM (rough estimation). sigh.

I hate to judge because I probably wouldn’t take all the performance oriented cars I want to the track, but I seriously wonder what the statistic would be if someone were to count the number of full size truck owners who actually use their flatbed and the improved ground clearance. I mean is the bulky look and

Driving a 3-ton battering ram as a daily driver but with no real need for a truck.  That’s freedumb.

The Maverick is a good start in the right direction.

Just remember that pop-up headlights are a danger to pedestrians...

There’s zero reason for me to have a big-ass truck like what is out right now. If I can’t park it in the garage, it’s too much to deal with since I tend to service my own cars as well.

If I need a bunch of lumber, appliances or anything else taken to my house that doesn’t fit in the wagon, most places offer free

These vehicles make me long to daily drive a Terex vehicle or something from the General Electric collection.

Safety features shouldn’t be optional. I almost feel like the feds need to set rules like if frontal visability for 5’4” person is X feet ahead and behind then it needs Y safety features. Namely automatic braking and backup sensors, or just mandate them for everyone since they do save lives.

This is a constant problem I have with McDonalds, in that if you order a “combo meal” they try to auto default it to large, not medium, unless you specifically tell them, and then, they still do it half the time anyway. I’ve literally thrown half a drink and fries in the trash so many times that I’ve basically stopped
