Good point. The migrants are more than likely going to come regardless, trying to crack down on that isn’t going to have the effect they think it will. It won’t deter significant numbers of migants, and it certainly won’t give the anti-immigration people any warm fuzzies about the people that do want to come there.

There is still the problem of the elephant in the room of how these countries should deal with their migrant populations. There are very real problems with having a sudden influx of people who share different cultural, historical, and moral backgrounds with no real effort on either side to get newcomers to assimilate…

On the subject of abortion Clinton and other centrists avoid giving a full-throated defense of abortion and women’s rights because the populace at large/conservatives range from being uncomfortable about abortion to outright thinking it’s murder.

There’s not all that much difference between what she’s saying about immigration and taking the position that “since so many conservatives are anti-abortion, we should get a handle on it to prevent the GOP from campaigning on it.”

I joined for discounted firearm insurance and firearm storage back in the 90's. The firearm safety message was quite a bit louder than the political one. I didn’t renew when the “Obama is coming for our guns” nonsense started.  

If anti abortion assholes can picket with dead fetuses on placards, then others can picket NRA headquarters with pictures of bloody ERs/trauma centers and results of GSW’s.

The NRA should be using this as an opportunity to promote gun safety, via handling practices, proper storage, and securing them from kids, etc.
