If it's an unsafe working environment it should close for the day. When I was a kid they closed school if it was over a certain temperature more than a few days in a row. It's just something that happens sometimes.

Yeahhhhhhhh no. I don't blame them one bit - working at McD's is a shite job on the best day. I can't imagine working there with no air conditioning. THE SMELL ALONE... the smell. Nightmares, I will have them tonight.

It's not they are sitting down, replying to comments here. They are standing up, moving, working in front of fryers and grills, etc. and wearing those godawful uniforms. The fact that someone already passed out should be sign enough.

My husband works outdoors year round, but on hot days they have mandatory cooling breaks, and on cold days they have mandatory warm up breaks. I'm guessing McDonald's employees who work with the fryers do not get these cooling breaks.
