Carrying a loaded weapon is not a right you have in all 50 states. Most counties in the state I live in don't even offer concealed carry permits, and those that do make people jump through a lot of hoops before they are granted one.

I don't think jury duty is a feasible expectation for many who can't afford the hardship of losing that income or compromising childcare, etc. But having a diverse jury pool is better for everyone if we can swing it. Most trials are short and it's usually more interesting and rewarding than people think. So thumbs…

Amen. All this talk of "Will there or won't there be riots?" and "Let's respect the verdict" is driving me up the wall.

There's a certain segment of America that is still bitter about the Caylee Anthony verdict, too.

I wish that jury compensation was reasonable/on par with someone's actual pay. It's financially prohibitive for so many folks to participate. :-/

I have a theory. I'm only an amateur psychologist like most of us, but I think there's something like a Twelve Angry Men Syndrome. A juror comes in with high degree of certainty about a case and does everything in their power, even to the point of bullying, to get the jury to sway their way.

She's taken the things that Zimmerman did (returning to the scene after reportedly feeling like he was in danger), and flipped it, so that in her mind, Martin was the aggressor and, essentially, "deserved what he got." I can't even compute the amounts of idiocy happening right now.
