All two of them, you mean?

If he is getting marked just as well as other umpires (which he was before Torres showed up) and not getting promoted like the white umpires are, that’s a discrimination problem.

It can be both an assault and a mistake. Those situations you described are definitely assaults, but whether they are mistakes or not depends on the reaction of the perpetrator after the fact.

I don’t live in SF, but I can relate to your woes about the “money makes me interesting” dudes. If I wanted to find out how much everything costs, I could use Google, man.

I mean, I can’t speak for all of them, but the ones I’ve chatted with at various professional levels usually want to get the call right, and would prefer especially the last out be a no doubter. You don’t want to walk off the field leaving the fans angry.

Yeah, no, they’re really not okay with the idea that they will be losing their jobs to machines.

I also don’t like the look of a shaved pubis so I use a beard trimmer to keep mine under control; otherwise it’s like an overgrown jungle down there. Trimming means that there’s no stubble or ingrown hairs and it’s soft.

It’s a really great blog. She’s both hilarious and informative.

I am not a lawyer.

Because it came to their attention and cost them nothing to do. They were never going to sue Wagner — they hoped that by sending the letter, they’d get what they wanted (her to stop using the photos and/or taking the blog down) without too much effort. Then she pulled out the big guns and they folded like a cheap suit

Her blog is great! I walk around my neighborhood now (distinctly NOT a McMansion neighborhood) and think about symmetry and dormer windows and shit.

I checked after I posted this and apparently the Duffy curse works both ways — he’s on the DL for his heel, still. But Skeeter has an Instagram.

OH AND WHEN HE RETIRES HE BETTER MAKE SOME GUEST APPEARANCES ON PRINCE FIELDERS COOKING SHOW

Yeah, Duffy (and Duff Cat) pretty much erased all of my bitterness about the Panda. He was fun to watch play and I don’t wish him ill, but re-signing him without a weight clause would have been a mistake and I’m glad they didn’t make it.

I cannot believe they didn’t test this out first. I mean, I’m not so dumb as to have someone shoot me through a book, but if I were, I would also think to shoot a practice book, just to check.

I tell my people the old adage “it’s not the crime, it’s the cover up,” which isn’t entirely accurate — some mistakes could get you fired — but underscores the importance of admitting mistakes.

It seems so, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, that’s not a criteria for the legal doctrine of “fair use,” but I get how someone could feel that way.

No, she makes money by taking your photos and creating original entertainment and educational content using those photos, and selling advertising based on that content. And no one is arguing this is journalism, just that it’s fair use of the photos.

Where did you get the idea that you can’t make money from fair use? Because that’s not true at all.

She also distinguishes between McMansions and actual mansions from an architectural standpoint. She’s not against the people spending money on houses.
