Also a sexist culture. I love video games but stick to non-massive online ones because it’s just a garbage dump of all the worst qualities found in aggressive teen boys.

Millennial here too. It’s not fair for us to be labeled as “old” just because we don’t conform to what’s hot now. It’s not like we don’t like it because it’s new. I’m not going to blindly hop on every new trend just to not seem old. But I agree that social media (and reality tv, and everything that lets people be…
Oooh I like that you mentioned Europe because there is some amazing French hip hip out there. I only took a year of it in college so I don’t even know half of what they’re talking about, but good music is good music regardless of the language.
Maybe I was too sober and lucid when I heard “Bodak Yellow.”
I feel like, even older hip hop used it a lot as well, but the genre was collectively more... underground? Now hip hop is one of the most mainstream widespread music genres, so more white kids are listening to it than 30+ years ago.
I think, in this case, it’s because Betsy Demon is privileged by being such a grotesque evil hag that no rapist would even want to put his hands on her. She can’t imagine the trauma of sexual assault.
What in the... lord. This... I don’t have the words to express how infuriating this is. I suppose I’m just glad that she didn’t murder him?
A lot of the modern (mainstream) rap seems like they just... got lazy. I miss the old remixed beats (that you could even dance to!) and clever lyricists. And impressive rhyming! Pretty much anyone can be a producer with their computer now. There’s still some good stuff now but it’s underground, and that’s a shame...…
“Mainstream rap is mostly a white kid’s fantasy of black ghetto life, since they are who the music is made for.”
I didn’t say anything about Issa. She CLEARLY messed up. Badly. Cheating is never okay, and she’s still paying for it. My issue is with Lawrence and what he symbolizes. He’s been using everyone he knows since the beginning of the show without any thank you’s or apologies. A guy who flakes on his friends for cokehead…
“his dried out anus of a face”
I feel so, so much for these people and their families.
I would love that, so, SO much, but she’s so calculating and guarded. The lengths she would go to to keep up her image of perfection... All the rosé in all of LA wouldn’t be enough to get her to slip up.
YES.
As someone both bougie and lightskinned, they all embarrass me deeply.
I’m really excited about this plotline because it IS a huge problem in LA right now and it’s interesting to see where people stand with their thoughts. Tiffany and her (unsurprisingly) tone deaf excitement for home foreclosures, and even my beloved Kelli calling Issa’s place a trap house was hard to watch.
I want an entire episode in season 3 to be about Tiffany and Derek’s “love” life. Or at least a college flashback episode on why/how they’re even friends.
I cringe every time his character is on screen now (I don’t need another Bristol Farm gangbang ruining my appetite) but I think he has to stay on as a character because he is THE poster child of the omnipresent fuckboy in today’s millennial dating world, especially in LA.
Exactly!! When I said that EVERYONE who voted for him is racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic, ableist, and pro-rape and sexual assault, I meant what I goddamned said.
I get this. It’s like whenever there are mudslides and fires in the parts of California where the wealthy (and white, and republican) live. It’s kind of like...¯\_(ツ)_/¯
