People, please start believing that health care IS the miracle God sent you.

How horrifying. But also, how gratifying to hear that the rescue people on the scene seemed to be legitimately concerned for her safety and dignity.

I’m gonna march out my front door and punch the first Republican I can find. Bye.

Cela est une quantité suffisante d’ Internet pour aujourd’hui. Je vais prendre un verre de vin rouge.

I feel kinda bad for Leo. He finally got that damn thing but now he can’t even enjoy it without hearing “YOU THIRSTY SUCK, YOU SHOULDA WON FOR GILBERT GRAPE, THEY JUST FELT SORRY FOR YOU” in his head and watching a parade of memes when he tries to sleep.

I’m just [just, just, just] okay with Spotlight winning Best Picture: 1) it denied it going to Revenant, and 2) Michael Keaton’s literal Fuck Yeah Moment:

That’s not actually what (s)he said, given that the vast majority of Jews have no problem interacting with members of the opposite sex. Judaism is fine. Ultra-orthodox Judaism does, in fact, suck. As does ultra-orthodox Christianity, ultra-orthodox Islam, ultra-orthodox Hinduism, or ultra-orthodox anything else

As I said to someone else, religious discrimination and accommodation are not the same thing. No one is required to accommodate your religion or sex or race, etc. They cannot refuse to sell a seat to a person. But they can refuse to move anyone else and insist he use what he bought or not use their services. You can’t

There's a difference though between religious discrimination and not providing accommodation. I am require to serve Jews, but not required to serve kosher food, for example. We aren't allowed to not serve people. But we don't have to serve them in ways that are substantially different than our ordinary business.

Someone once said to me, having a religion is like having a penis.

Yep. I was thinking about kosher meals more in the context of accommodating this dude’s beliefs by moving him instead, or asking people on check-in if they have a problem being around women and arranging seats accordingly. Things that maybe don’t put any specific woman out directly, but is still creating women-free

I agree. (also an atheist, FWIW). I don’t care what a person’s religion is, because I think they are all silly. To me, there is no difference between going to church on Sunday, praying to Allah 5 times a day, or worshipping a tree frog. Have at it. But religion should not exempt a person from following the law. People

It seems pretty easy to me; your sincerely held religious beliefs don’t give you the right to discriminate against others, or to get someone else to do so on your behalf. And if those beliefs mean you’re incapable of doing your job, you get to find a new job.

I think the answer is easy. Have an orgy with all the GOP candidates so they all leave. You’re welcome America.

I don’t think I will ever be mentally prepared enough to answer this question.

I take offense to your harried, low-ranking adjunct professor comment. I am a harried low-ranking adjunct and I always show up well-groomed! I admit that my dad is a retired tenured professor who often looked like that in his younger days.

Not even with Coldplay, what with Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow remaining on friendly terms and sharing custody of their children so those children get to live life without being torn and abused during/after their parents’ divorce. I can’t hate on parents who care for their kids in such responsible fashion.

Maybe the word is too powerful to permit explanation.
