And speaking as someone who occasionally gets the driver duties while towing, I very much prefer to stay in my (right or middle) lane, going a nice 55-60 mph and comfortably distant from the vehicle ahead of me. It’s pretty disconcerting to change lanes unless the road is pretty empty
