Did you happen to reach out to them about the discrepancy? Seems their response would tell a lot about whether there was intention to decieve vs gross incompetence.

“You fucked up the first time, that’s all I need anymore.”
I do like it does make sense for Star-Lord and the GOTG here since he’s gotta play traffic cop a lot on the team. As the devs alluded to, having to make some tough decisions trying to placate your squad and balance everyone’s ego when you can only control your own is an interesting GOTG-y quirk.
All true, and further, an expanding population keeps the price of labour low. That’s an important right-wing consideration as well, keeping the proles hungry.
I would say these are pretty good character models that dont look like “We Have the MCU At Home” dime-store knockoffs.
#1 is absolutely the most important, and it’s always my first answer, too. Sure, I can give you a long-ass list of reasons that reinforce my not wanting them, but at the end of the day, I have zero regrets about having remained childless.
If it makes you feel any better, I have tons of resentment for how my parents raised me and tons of issues that I have had to address with a therapist. I breakdown and cry every time I realize how often they failed to teach me the most basic of things that have been extremely detrimental to my schooling, relationships…
I’m hoping the success of Spider-Man/Miles Morales has shown Marvel that that is what people want to play, and not live service games like Avengers. And that in turn, it reflects in the developers and publishers they chose to license their IPs to.
I am also 45, have 2 kids, financially secure and semi-retired. Difference is I had my kids at 19 and they are 26 now and are functioning adults. Unfortunately I was allergic to condoms and lost that Russian Roulette :)
funny, I don’t remember writing this comment detailing my exact feelings on the pitfalls of modern parenthood, probably another kinja error.
I keep my reasons a bit more simplified:
For anyone else child-free to who has to defend their position, I recommend telling your inquisitor “I like sleep.” People will argue for hours why kids are worth the expense/noise/mess/space on the planet/etc but no parent will claim that having children allows you to sleep. It’s a simple but effective way to end…
I pack my backpack. As a backcountry hiker and camper, everything I need has to fit in the pack tightly and meet weight. Sometimes I’ll start with the little stuff on the hip belt and then to the inside, and sometimes I’ll go in reverse. I hardly ever finish packing my backpack.
This reminds me of a meditation technique that works well for me: Imagining I’m sitting on the side of the road and the thoughts that keep bubbling up to the surface are cars driving by. I just watch them zoom on past me.
* Too expensive
* Horrible for the environment and they will suffer the consequences of that
* I don’t believe in “legacies” which are ancient false beliefs before we knew better that somehow your life continues on
* They are loud and annoying
* I have cats that bring me infinite joy and they don’t require anywhere near…
I agree with all of this. The only way I see myself having a child is to adopt one that already exists and needs someone to love them, and even that is fucking expensive.
At 45 I semi-retired. Now only working seasonally for fairly low wages. I am happy and financially secure.
I’ve found imagining that I’m driving and try to incorporate random stops/ideas into my drive. Sometimes I’m on Rainbow Road going to the gas station. Or I’m driving to a theme park taking the shortcut that goes through the road inside the middle of the mall.
Seriously fuck having kids. For most of us buying a house in a place that has decent work is a complete non-starter because we don’t get paid enough. We can’t afford to just shit out a crotch goblin and be bogged down by 18+ years of additional expenses.
