That’s quite a leap of logic. The beneficial effect of handwashing is a fundamentally different function than that of hand sanitizer. You’re literally washing away the contaminants, rather than killing them.

Actually, I’m correctly assuming most people confuse alcohol-based disinfectants with triclosan-based disinfectants. But yes, antibiotics being prescribed when they aren’t necessary contributes to the same problem.
