You could try sim racing; you’d only need to sink ~$2000 for a decent rig. Obviously nothing is a real sub for real stage time, but it’d be a cheaper way to get a feel for the car.

Wouldn’t Uber allowing drivers to set their own rates be a pretty simple and effective fix? Rates would probably start out a pretty high as some people want the extra money, but would stabilize as drivers figured out how much people are willing to pay. The only downside is riders would have to pay a bit more.
