When you’ve been fighting with Warren Beatty over who gets to announce the Best Picture winner and you think you’ve won the argument but then he knowingly lets you read from the wrong envelope:

he is so gorgeous

Those pics are glorious, but in my opinion, the most gorgeous thing about Trevante Rhodes is his smile:

Well this is the perfect Monday pick-me-up (as in pick me up and carry me to the couch because I have the vapors).

This is going to give me life for months. Months!

My sister and I were just talking about how it was a “Dad move,” referring to our fire captain father. He’s exactly that way in stressful situations, and sometimes it stings a little in the moment, but you’re always grateful in the end that he simply *handles* shit and doesn’t let people dick around. It’s assertion,

“Spat”? No, he very clearly and openly expressed there’d been a huge mistake. Then immediately announced “Moonlight” was the actual winner. He handled it with grace and even excitement for “Moonlight”. Spat? Stop the drama.

Horowitz was a class act for sure. He saved that disaster. I want to know who was that other La La Land producer who gave a speech and then said “we lost, by the way”. You can see him talking to the stage hand BEFORE he gives his speech so he knew they lost but gave his speech anyway?! WTF?! Thank god for Horowitz.

Indeed. Really bad take from Rich. Horowitz handled it SO WELL.

You know they’re just annoyed. Rich and many of the other writers here wanted La La Land to win, they’ve got a whole backlog of snarky, whiny, victimised articles ALREADY WRITTEN about how it was the worst film and they stole it from the good honest Black movie and how the white devil is destroying Hollywood, and now

thank you. that jarred me, too. dude was classy and straightforward, especially given how much that would have sucked. its a super dick move for rich to jump on the la la land folks just cos he doesnt think the movie deserved to win. unnecessarily catty and lame, and disingenuous to boot.

Lovely is nice, but Moonlight was groundbreaking, moving, the casting was perfection, and it was incredibly shot.

Seriously.

Rich is just being a smug asshole.

For all the times I like Jezebel, it’s things like this that are driving me away. A lot of the staff write callous and snarky things for no reason. It’s just mean for the sake of mean a lot of the time.

Also, it wasn’t Horowitz’s job to straighten that shit out! But the producers and Kimmel and the accountants and the announcers all seemed to get a collective fit of the vapors and time was ticking so Horowitz stepped up and got shit done. This is a good character trait. We want these sorts of people around when

Horowitz handled it not just with grace, but authority and he corrected the situation as quickly and calmly as it could have been handled. He didn’t “spit” and saying it was “kind” of him to give Moonlight their award is nasty and shitty.

Moonlight: Best Picture,” spat Horowitz.

I agree. He could have played dumb. But he cut off the other guy and seemed to want the truth to be told. He was sincere. Someone who is pissed and bitter for losing doesn’t hug the real winner like he did.

Yeah, I thought the Lala Land producers handled it with exceptional grace. They took it on themselves to announce that they hadn’t won, quickly got out the message that Moonlight had won, and tried to reassure the Moonlight team that this was all real and they should get up on stage. Like that’s a lot of crazy in
