From my understanding, people who pick supports and tanks more often were often getting rank points at a faster rate than people who play DPS more often. So this seems to be aiming at lowering that discrepancy.

These 3 newer games have the problem endemic to the mobile game format, where it’s really hard to see past the inherent artifice of the game’s systems. I can only think of maybe Monument Valley as an example of a game that was able to overcome that feeling.

not everyone goes trawling through reddit on an hourly basis, y’know

To be reductive, it’s a very graphically impressive and mechanically involved clicker game. Everything you do, even failure (since enemies level up when they kill you) all feeds back into the core progression, leading to an infinite cycle of eking out higher numbers on all your varied colorful garbage.

the most optimistic view is that these are bandage fixes to address the most glaring aspects of the progression system, and they’re currently working to throw out most of it in favor of making the loot boxes focused on cosmetics in the same vein as overwatch (which would explain dataminers finding more cosmetic

One bit of advice I learned during the firefight sequence in New York early on is that you really need to abuse the high sprint speed. Enemies in Wolf2 can tear you to pieces if you’re relatively stationary, but struggle to hit when you’re in a sprinting state.

I remember those places being around every street corner when my family vacationed to Germany over a decade ago. They served excellent kebaps *and* great pizza. Similar places started opening up here in Austin and I’m so grateful.

IMO this new version feels...confused? Redundant with the other healers whose ults do large AoE healing? Indicative of Blizzard’s identity crisis with this game? Yeah all of those.

my dude do you realize that you’re proving their point by being unreasonably angry about a support hero killing your super kill adrenaline rush

Reminds me of that twine game “the uncle who works at nintendo”, I’ll have to try this out.

Now tune in tonight as I try to take 2 minutes off my “being repeatedly pecked by angry ostriches in real life %” run of Super Mario World.

It’ll be subsidized by loot boxes, for better or worse. No fracturing of the playerbase this time at least.

100% recommend checking out any other electronic big-box store, picking up a Switch at a local Best Buy a month back for a friend’s birthday was a totally painless experience.

I thought it was cute that the final animation for Homestuck had a little tribute to Undertale. Still didn’t know what was happening even after having read about 60% of the comic.

Another good example of subversive comedy-horror is Junji Ito’s “The Cat Diaries”. It’s just a series of vignettes starring an analogue of himself and his wife raising a couple cats, but with hysterically out-of-place usage of (a nonviolent version of) his horror imagery in mundane situations. It’s excellent if you’ve

I’ve never seen a dude become more self-righteously macho than when I tell them “betcha feel like a big man yelling at an actual child, huh?” in an online game. Insecure to the extreme.

Alphabear is great, except for when I completely blank out on the english language and just start guessing in the vague direction of words.

I’m...gonna guess that this isn’t a real thing they’re gonna have employees go through, and is purely a marketing stunt to reach The Millennials™.

Mildly curious if they stuck any more encounters or allusions to the skeleton ghost man with the unreadable font. Also if there’s any way to undo some of the potential save file stuff that can happen, since it’s on a console now and I’m not sure if you can fully erase a save.

Went for TI5, was one of the most exuberant weeks of my life. My friend at the time who was a freelance photographer for various Dota 2 reporters showed me around the player hotel where I’d constantly see players like Dendi or Eternal_Envy lounging around. Got to hang out in Team Archon’s VIP room for a bit, that was
