For any fans of Grady Hendrix, he appears on quite a good episode of Teen Creeps where they do a sort of state of YA summit and talk about the development of YA horror .

Hey hey hey, K-9 treats women with respect.
Charisma has alluded to some of this before and rumors have swirled, and back in 2017 Joss’ ex wife revealed some of his terrible behavior too — I know that people want to give their well-regarded heroes the benefit of the doubt, but this is truly an open secret people wanted to ignore because they like his work.
Thing is, he doesn’t really owe us details - it’s an open secret that Joss Whedon is a piece of crap. We didn’t know the details of him firing Charisma, but it’s been known he did it because she was pregnant for a long time. And his ex-wife wrote an open letter a few years back detailing some of his abuse and…
I’ve been waiting for someone to finally call him out for specific stuff. It seemed like it had to be there, but Fischer’s allegations were so vague and ambiguous. Which made it easy for Whedon to remain silent because he wasn’t being accused of anything.
It was something I was aware of, but found easy to...not dismiss, exactly, but take with a grain of salt because I could never find an original source (think it was stuff she had said at conventions, and therefore there was no real paper trail).
“Dianne Feinstein ends up looking particularly bad” should be the title of her biography.
His professors must be so proud.
I never watched the second one. Queenie becomes what? How?
the *other* gut punch from SNL between election and inauguration...
I hadn’t seen the McKinnon version of it since it aired in that awful, awful week four years ago. Watching it again today and seeing the tears in her eyes and the genuine emotion she was feeling still lands today.
“Danbury, CT can eat my entire ass.”
I would argue that Mads is a better Hannibal Lecter. Anthony Hopkins is great but he’s so ... over the top. With Mads he’s all oozing class and etiquette and charm and you completely understand why people fall under his spell.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the Shakespeare ReTold version of Much Ado, although I did like how they concluded the Hero/Claudio story. Much more modern. That said, its interpretation of Taming of the Shrew is the best I’ve ever seen. Even better (i’ll say it) than 10 Things I Hate about You, and I love that movie!
Really, the one they should drop is the Eggnog Latte. Don’t get me wrong, I l love eggnog and am passionate about it. But eggnog is not a thing that should be heated. If you want something that’s like eggnog, but hot, what you want is a Tom and Jerry (which is put together in a different way.)
And we basically hit the lottery with the outcome of WWII.
Canadian “nice” runs the gamut—we are expected to behave in a more reserved manner than Americans (it’s the old British background) and can be assholes underneath, but a lot of us come from “help other people” traditions too. And we’re happier with socialism than Americans are in general.
I am not against it on your hot dog, I am against it on my hot dog because it is just amplifying the sweetness of both things, it’s a simple and for me unappealing flavor that way.
This. As an American, I firmly believe that American Exceptionalism is a terrible disease and that most if not all of our cultural ills stem from it and the confirmation bias that props it up.
Depends where you are, but I believe Canadian Nice to be real.
