Or, Dior threw a bunch of money at them, trying to be responsible about it in all sincerity, and some people are looking for something to be pissed off about, for any one of several reasons, some of which are perfectly legitimate, and some of which involve our perpetually outraged society these days.

At this point, the blame lay completely on the Trump voting bloc. His base love everything he says, and does, to the point of worship. Evangelicals didn’t rise up in protest to his second coming re-tweet (which was re-tweeted by an Evangelical who only claims his Jewish heritage to make his second-coming statements-

That’s not testosterone....

The GOP made it clear they have no intention of rationally solving any political debate a loooong time ago. We are a nation full of morons, may as well cater to them.

He’s from the heartland, the nation’s breadbasket if you will: Queens.

People want someone who can solve all the country’s problems but isn’t smarter than them.  Voters are a very fickle group.

We are now going to solve our political debates with tire changing Facebook Live streams?

It’s totally this. The exact same qualities in a man would be greeted by little starbursts in the eyes of every journalist in America. It’s also telling that they keep putting their complaints into the mouths of generic “critics”.

This is all enormously depressing. I would much prefer to have an exasperated, intelligent woman running the show. Think Hillary during her endless Benghazi testimony, or Merkel any damn day of the week. They have no patience with nonsense and silly, mainstream notions of what is considered acceptable female deportment

She used to be not off-putting, but nevertheless, she persisted.

There’s two reasons: systemic sexism and anti-intellectualism. She’s smarter than 95%+ of the electorate, which makes a majority of people hate her because they think that any sign of intelligence is either elitist or insulting to them; and of course the underlying fear and hatred of successful, outspoken women.

I just attended her townhall in Seattle and I have to say, she had charisma in spades. I really hope she’s our next president.

I doubt the native thing will be an issue. Those who pay attention know she’s addressed it to the satisfaction of the NA community. Meanwhile, Trump has no place criticizing her on that issue - and I expect she'll be prepared with a lacerating comeback if he does.

Imagine the debate between Warren and Trump” You do realize that she is extremely intelligent?  Pretty sure she’d mop the floor with him.  She’s dealt with bullies before.

Precisely. This is a less funny application of the concept Jay Bilzarian employs in Big Mouth to combat boredom by spreading rumors about the girls at school who won’t show him their boobs: “Let’s let it be known that as a snack, she eats tiny pieces of shit.

During the debates I said to my husband, “At the end, look who who the people in the crowd want selfies with or want to say hi to.” Warren had crowds of people coming to her, while other candidates wandered around. She also had an incredible command on stage. When she spoke, other candidates listened with titled heads

Charisma is useful for getting elected, but it doesn’t appear to have much advantage when it comes to governing.  See also “authenticity.”  We as a polity have some really messed up prioties in terms of what qualities we value in people who are vying for important jobs.

It’s basic math: In a world of extremists, if there are more ride-or-dies on the right than there are on the left, then all you’re doing by positioning yourself as a moderate is allowing the country to continue to move further to the right. I may not agree with everything AOC says, but I like her if for no other

She dug her own hole. She markets herself as a “moderate”, yet every single time it comes down to it she gives in to McConnell. The only time she is allowed to let her moderate flag fly is early in the process, when she won’t be the deciding vote or when the result is largely inconsequential. When it is something
