Probably all valid points. Mostly just conducting an exercise in theory. Also thinking 15 years ahead for when I start making plans for retirement and EVs are more commonplace (and more affordable). I won’t be sticking with paved sites, or glamping.

Wouldn’t a practical scenario be to pull a Tesla behind an RV? I know the increased fuel consumption due to regeneration would add cost, but couldn’t it be a way to keep the car mostly charged on long RV vacations? If you’re pulling in to campsites every night, you’re stuck with (often unreliable) 120v power so…
I ran SCCA events when they were close by, but I built my car to NASA specs. I haven’t had the opportunity to compete since 2007, but NASA was (at the time) far more fun and much more fairly classed. I was very fortunate to have a very talented group of NASA drivers to race with.
Your nihilistic view doesn’t make it ok for a dick to be a dick. Sportsmanship is only dead if you help kill it. I lost my first SCCA event because (I found out later) the guy who beat my time (in the novice category) was visiting and had actually been racing over a year in a different region. I didn’t protest. I…
You should leave quickly without notice and change your name. This guy is having a midlife crisis and there will be coke, hookers, and machine guns involved.
This thing is spectacular in its truly horrific proportions and flourishes.
Wait, I’m supposed to have my life figured out?! Shit.
Ok, admit it - you have one of those mullet wigs, don’t you? ;-)
But the key question is WHO is looking for a “vintage” Celica Supra who also has $19k standing by to make such a purchase? The key demographic here isn’t a hedge fund manager with cash to burn on a mid-80’s Toyota collection; it’s a guy with a lot of money who has fond memories of mid-80’s Toyotas. I can’t imagine…
You could totally DD and modify this particular car. The post implied that any person willing to pay an exorbitant amount for a mostly like-new 33 year old “regular” car wouldn’t.
Um, inspired by a Bugatti/Acura fever dream??
That’s the frenchest Pontiac Aztek I’ve ever seen!
$150k was the starting price. All vehicles were equipped with numerous owner specific touches. I’d imagine $250k out the door is a more realistic actual cost.
My thoughts also went straight to the whole nautical right of way thing, and how some captains are so stubborn they’ll run aground to prove a point.
Don’t forget all the fantastic parking spots in garages, shopping areas, et al when you’re driving an EV. Free charging (though I’m sure not for much longer) and primo parking just increase the number of reasons an EV is pretty noice!
Hmm, so adding dynamat made it sound better?
There are definitely more now to look at. I’ve heard pretty good stuff about the kias, so they’re definitely on my list to drive when the time comes.
Bose is a scam - you’re definitely a good man! 😜 I’ve always been puzzled by people so willing to pay a premium for Bose, when compared to actual high fidelity gear, they’re quite crappy.
Jeez - that heat pump pearly DOES make a big difference! My AC drops the range 5 or 6 miles, but the heater drops it 20+.
That’s correct. Nissan extended the factory warranty on a number of 2011 and 2012 models that lived in southern states because the ambient heat over the summer months caused rapid degradation. Once Nissan recognized the problem as widespread, they stepped up and made it right with owners. Subsequent models were…
