From the summary here, Square Enix has taken an incredibly long detour to get right back where we started.

Have you tried Mega Man Legends? It’s quite dated now, of course, but it was 3D with the game’s dungeons eventually revealed to all be connected (or at least were mostly connected, I think - it’s been a long time since I last played it).

Given the regularity with which Atlus’ has pulled the rerelease as a new version bait and switch, I can’t help but point out that if they’d already decided to do one, they would no longer be considering it.

Apparently, according to some supplemental materials (Lifestream Black) Sephiroth is keeping himself “whole” in the lifestream by his hatred of Cloud. He can’t not be antagonistic, because he’s sustaining himself by the grudge.

Dark Souls and it’s ilk, for sure.

“Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.”

Presumably the next several N7 day trailers will involve the masked figure riding an elevator.

I fear I’m an intermittent player, and am only rarely subscribed to their seasonal model.  When they failed to do anything previously, did the season that was in effect just linger on, or did they just go to a period where there was no season?

I wonder how this will affect their content model.  Will they come up with an extra season to fill the space?  Or just extend the one that was already going to be there.  Or just have a period of no battle pass at all?

I’m still waiting for the reveal that Tifa actually did perish at Nibelheim, and what’s been walking around since is a Jenova controlled puppet... who pulls pretty much what you’re predicting Aerith is going to do.

It seems worth pointing out that the prices on at least several of these games (SQUENIX is only company I really have relevant data for) are actually higher than they’ve been in the last few days. Over the weekend, Tactics Ogre was $25, Valkyrie Elysium was $10, Crisis Core was $25, Octopath Traveler was $15, etc.  I

Well that’s... incredibly disappointing.

I would totally buy a Xenogears remake / remaster. However, I had read that part of the deal that was made to allow Xenosaga et. all to be developed was basically that Square would never touch the title again.

I would argue that Bahamut isn’t as powerful as Donald Duck, but merely that this is evidence that... Bahamut IS Donald Duck.
Consider, Donald Duck is, seemingly, an adult male duck. Another word for an adult male duck is a drake. Donald is, if not the king of Disney’s ducks,

“Get in the Eikon, Clive.”

While I agree that Final Fantasy I’s Ineffective move mechanic could be frustrating, I also feel that it added a surprising amount of depth to the battle system. Moves not redirecting to another enemy meant that at any given point in time, you had to have a working knowledge of: an enemies hp, roughly how much damage

Given Atlus’ normal MO for Persona releases, I can only assume that roughly a year after the remake releases they’ll drop another version with the FES contents, with the PSP stuff following some time after. Experience has trained me to never buy the first version of one of their games.

I got curious and hit some Wiki’s. I think it comes down to ambiguous terminology. FF7 refers to any of a number of people who got Jenova cells and a Mako wash as Sephiroth clones. In the game, these were the numerous individuals who wandered around in cloaks who you’d run into or hear stories about. That did happen

The Cloud from the original game is a clone with alien cells and Mako energy infused into his body who also doesn’t remember the most important events in his life.”
It’s been a long time since I played, but while the game does fake out Cloud being a clone, doesn’t it eventually reveal that he’s just a normal human

I’ve been playing Final Fantasy games since the first one, and will probably eventually try this one.  With that said, I’d be lying if I said I was particularly enthusiastic about it based on the pre-release coverage.
