I think the only reasons he’s tolerated are that he’s smart and he pretty much single-handedly defeated the Saviors.

I like Eugene sometimes, but I’m starting to get the feeling he’s a goner before the end of this season. They’re not really doing anything with him any more, and they’re setting Rosita up to feel all guilty about Eugene’s death because she made him leave Alexandria.

Not all of them have spices added. I love their “Aztec Chocolate” with spices, but they have varieties that are just ground cacao with water or milk.

Yes, XOCO has awesome hot chocolate.  It’s not the thick and creamy type like this recipe, I think it’s supposed to be authentic Mexican chocolate, and I’m not even sure if there’s any dairy in it.  It might just be ground cacao beans and hot water.  The flavor is so intense though, it’s great.

Exactly right.  I can’t take Nagy’s play calling any more.  I think he has gone off his rocker.  He can’t just make anything simple.  The bigger the situation, the bigger he fucks up.  He seems to think that the key to winning is him out-thinking the opposing coaches, rather than his players out-executing the opposing

The best line of the week was when Eugene is going on one of his long-winded, overly-complicated, metaphorical sentences about using his knowledge of engineering to help fill the gap in the smile of Hilltop’s defenses, and Michonne cuts him off and says, “You want to fix the fence?” with a look of exasperation on her

Anything’s possible.  Vonnegut wrote fiction, although I don’t think this particular part of the book was intended to be fiction.

Funny coincidence, but I was reading Breakfast of Champions on the train this morning, and there was a section in the book precisely about this. Vonnegut says it originated from photojournalism, back in the days when all photographers were male. Supposedly, when one of the photographers saw a woman’s vagina exposed

Sit around, children - I’ll tell ye the story of the creation of IRN BRU. One day, a brilliant Scotsman had his first taste of the drink Americans refer to as Mountain Dew. He was later recorded to have remarked, “This is not bad, but I wish it was a bit sweeter and more artificial tasting.” As nothing was available

I love most stouts, but a Mole stout does sound a little weird.  I’ll make sure to avoid it!

Xocoveza is a classic, I should have mentioned that too. Abraxas is kind of like Xocoveza on steroids, super thick and intense flavor. I don’t know how big Perennial’s distribution area is though. A more widely accessible beer that is kind of similar is Prairie BOMB!, although the peppers are usually not very

Yes, but counterpoint: The beers that they brew in places with spicy foods (Mexico especially) typically go well with spicy foods, so I think they know what they’re doing. Many/most of those beers are styles that originally come from the Germany/Austria/Czech region though.

I’ve never really liked most beers with peppers, but I do like some of the “Mexican chocolate” stouts that typically have chocolate and/or cacao nibs and peppers, also sometimes things like vanilla, cinnamon, coffee, etc.  Abraxas by Perennial is my favorite, but there are several other good ones.

I’m 50/50 on this. I have noticed that mild brown beers go pretty well with spice, but I think most lagers go just as well, if not better. I usually opt for the lager.

Like I said:  Try it, then comment.  It’s a totally different flavor from ordinary maple syrup.

I think he was speaking of his perception of what consumers think, not what he personally thought. For the vast, vast majority of consumers, maple syrup is maple syrup. He wanted a way to differentiate his product.

Brussels sprouts and beets are good if they are prepared properly.

Agreed! The thing about Narwhal is, being in Chicago, I had already tried a bunch of other big stouts (including Bourbon County) by the time I tried my first Narwhal. So it was good, but not special for me.

Yeah, her family is from Puglia, they don’t use (or really have) butter down there.
