You also need to keep in mind that halting production does not mean halting sales. Most companies have a surplus buffer.

People act like video games are some sort of basic human need. There’s no moral reason for pirating a game, it isn’t a fucking loaf of bread. If you’re a pirate you’re not wrestling with moral choices, you’re just a giant fucking asshole.

I made a game a few years ago (it didn’t do very well) and it had a simple server check. Everytime I changed the key, breaking copies that couldn’t update, there was a sharp uptick in sales.

There is no moral reason for stealing a luxury good.

If you honestly believe out of one million pirated copies there wasn’t a single lost sale then you’re a fucking idiot.
