Entertainment Weekly and the AVC are just the moral arbiters of what we should and should not like “in the age of Trump”.

He’s being willfully stupid on purpose. Classic tactic. The “So what you’re saying is [the exact opposite of what you’re saying]” technique.
Authors are notoriously perfect humans.
I always found him to be passionate but terribly unfunny.
I don’t understand how if a white character helps they’re a “white savior” but if a black character does something well they’re a “magical negro. Yawl need to hit your “trope” quota I guess.
Here’s an idea: Maybe don’t draw a conclusion about the entire season based on the very beginning. You seem to constantly do that, and then you spend all season talking about the show you want to see or expect to see, instead of letting the story unfold naturally.
Why do shows ever bother to address the whiny bitching of internet comment sections and reviewers when in the end they’re going to get run through the ringer anyway?
Booker’s a good cop!
Oh good, I thought for a second no one remembered we did that to Simms.
I wonder too sometimes. Watching the behind the scenes stuff and extras on Mr Show DVDs it seems like he’s always been a bit of an angry prick.
One hilarious extra was the Mr Show crew at a DVD signing, and David wasn’t there and Bob was signing the DVDs “David Cross doesn’t care about you, Bob Odenkirk”.
“The A V Club, we always have and always will love and care about all the right things.” - someone at The A V Club with a false sense of infallibility (could be anyone!)
I wish people knew for sure before they threw stuff like this out on the internet.
I feel like AVC would’ve touched on that if he did. Or something better phrased.
Yeah, he was for like one early episode and then he vanished. Then it was all Gunther.
She got serious. Way too serious. Only she thinks it makes her smart too.
Very similar. Oddly, it wasn’t considered brilliant and recommended to be shown in film study class when GoT did it. Or Supernatural. Or Doctor Who for that matter.
I'll file this under things you couldn't possibly know are true.
Ouh...disagree. Some weeks are great, other weeks, he just oversells a lousy joke and the crowd is such a pile of trained seals that clap automatically half the time.
They’re Orphan Black-ening this show. Piling too many switch em ups and turns when they should narrow their focus. I’ve already lost some interest. Next season, I might check out of early if it trends downward any more.
You’ve never heard him speak. He is an intelligent, highly educated, thoughtful, opinionated person. Not only that, he can debate issues with people who disagree with him, without flying into an irrational fit. Does he have views I disagree with? Yes. Does that mean I have to #cancel him? Nope.
