Also "feeling threatened" is not a good criterion anyway. Just because someone feels threatened doesn't mean there is a real threat.

yeah I know about the massive amount of guns in circulation, though the police has shot many times even when they knew the subject was unarmed..but yes, the problem is complex on many levels..
This already shows how derailed your perspective is. Here in most of Europe no one would ever come to the idea of shooting someone just because the person in question is being aggressive or just because a cop feels threatened. There are so many other options for the cop, especially when the subject is not even armed.
whoa guys another black guy has been just shot near Ferguson just now?
so what now?
Well, I am also not a fan of silencing and like to think other peoples argument through, already out of selfishness since I might learn something new.
I like smart trolls. I don't like trolls who can't think properly, really. Finding people sexually attractive is NOT the same thing as objectifying people. Nowhere are the cartoon princes portrayed as objects as for instance women are in many commercials. Being the "object of desires (or of respect, or of attention)"…
I hate it. Everytime a woman is courageous and goes public with something that deeply affects her, she is being "exploitative". I mean, yes, there are some obvious cases (reality TV I am looking at you), but in many cases going public with private stuff takes guts and is clearly not something which would make you look…
you really don't get it and I don't even know where to start.
I've seen another video of him around a couple of months ago on upworthy, as I remember also on the topic of racism where he was as articulate and awesome as here.
I really hate this evolutionary psychology BS. Evolutionary psychology goes like that: Some behavior observed => omg must be evolutionary => explain it with some biased, very likely sexist, non-empirical view why it must be so. WOMEN CANT BE GOOD AT MATH BECAUSE THEY DID NOT GO HUNTING THOUSANDS OF YEARS EGO EVOLUTION…
I used to live with a racist homophobic gay man. Still haven't come to any conclusion...am I being small-minded if I expect gay people to have a certain political stance - or should it be natural for historically oppressed minorities to be liberal minded? Hmmm >_>
I remember the day after Amy Winehouse death her father urging the fans "If you don't want her to be forgotten, buy her CDs, buy her CDs". That was such a weird thing to see, too..never forgot this scene
It is seriously interesting how racism and sexism are alike. In case a white person becomes a killer, it is the circumstances, there is a lot of explanation why the poor guy (mostly its guys) has behaved such and such. But when it's a black person, all of a sudden it's clear that's just how blacks are, i.e. innate..
This is like people saying there is no need for feminism since humanism is enough. That is just a statement blind to the specific discrimination black people experience which we just simply don't. And no, it is not only the institutions, many many people hold biases against black people too, even if YOU might not…
Ah, Im from Europe and here Master = Undergrad degree (before the PhD). So we agree.
you mean the government. most people actually do
no
To be honest I feel more that he is making PR for himself. Like "look, our scarf wearing women are brilliant and there is no reason to change the government for a secular one". He is just being on opportunist, a more moderate one, but still
What..? ? She got her masters from Sharif University in Tehran!
