Yeah, I think that the leaks involving Sky’s use of TUEs show that more of the “cheats” are within the system. I think that the testing technology is making it harder but I don’t think that is the main thing driving it down. I think that sponsors are more involved in wanting to appear to be sponsoring a “clean” team.

It has certainly gotten a lot cleaner in the past few years. I’m sure that there are still teams trying to find the edge but it is pretty clear that times have gotten slower in the last few years - a good sign that the more blatant cheating is gone.

I think that we need to stop parroting this line that Froome is a robot. Are there days when he uses the power meter preserve himself? Yes. But there are also lots of days where he attacks or tries to put time on people in exciting moments. Two of the most exciting stages in recent years were his downhill attack and

I’d actually like to see his teeth.

Do you mean country instead of county or am I missing something?

As a bonus, it doesn’t consistently defend Veronese racists!

I think that you need to read Brian Phillips’ Run of Play on Pro Vercelli to really appreciate the pain of not owning your own stadium. On the other hand, you are going to lose many hours of your life:

No, I think that you were well within reason and I appreciate the useful background. Italia football seems like an appropriate representation of Italy. Impressive, yet often self-sabotaging.

Yeah, I’ve been paying pretty close attention for over 10 years but I don’t claim to know Italy in the 1990s. A main reason for my post was that I recently read “A Season with Verona” (which reads as racist apologia) and I’ve read some other books on Italian football and I struggle to square that fan experience with

The Serie A seems like an enigma to me. Known for its passion and provincial rivalries. The ultras! Match fixing! Fan violence!

While I agree with the general idea of this article, I will also say that it might not be a bad thing for ESPN to focus on sports because they are so bad at covering politics. Specifically, they tend to give an oversize voice to some people who don’t have particularly nuanced political views. I don’t want to hear Herm

No, we aren’t talking about some neighborhood black lab; fancy dogs don’t chase squirrels.

Yeah, what if Kyrie is just John Wall. A guy who keeps your relevant and is exciting but would need to be the second best guy if you want to win a championship. I guess he is about to find out.

This trade made me realize that the thing I hated most about Cleveland was Irving. For some reason I found him much more unlikable than Lebron. Also, I liked Thomas but found him hard to root for on the Celtics. This is a great trade for me - it puts somebody I don’t like on a team I don’t like. Now I just need to

The color guy is the least exciting human on earth.

“So there you have it: Arizona: It’s In The Way.”

Sounds so much like John Ronson.

Cosentino’s twitter is about to get a lot of cylinder related content. That was the most amazing 60 seconds of Podcast ever. Two people arguing at length about something that is a verifiable fact. I didn’t think that argument was possible in the internet age.

I’d be open to a little more discussion of BIG3 on Deadspin in general. The teams have started to bring in more young guys (as old guys get hurt) and the play has improved slightly. More importantly, it can’t cost much to run and it is a nice alternative to baseball this time of year. I find myself watching it on

Some truly terrible goalkeeping on display here. The one where she gets two hands on it is bad but the near post one is awful.
