"acute food insecurity". well, that´s one way of saying "I´m freaking starving over here".

that's it, you know what?

oh god, i remember this story. i mean, for the love of..

@NerD!!!: you'd think SUV drivers would be downright embarrassed to be in their own cars at this point - especially if there are no other passengers

so wait, Obama is the Antichrist, but McCain can hand out heaven vouchers? what?

@Archetype: i know, that's just me getting all idealistic again :(

as a Hillary supporter, it does kinda bother me when i hear people saying they'll vote for McCain if she's not on the ticket. which seems so counterproductive to me, like - if you appreciated her policy statements..... why the hell would you look in the opposite direction altogether??

kinda related: i just read (on my favorite tabloid, CNN) that Obama's energy plan would allow offshore oil drilling, albeit "limited." sigh.

my mom loves Two and a Half Men. owns it on DVD, for chrissake.

also: an "oyster crisis team"

@exelizabeth: me too - most men i talk to about this are ready, willing, and eager to take their own form of birth control.

96 percent?? no, wait. wait.

@Triphena: as long as you can tie that study into the Department of Defense somehow, i think they'd be willing to give you whatever grant money you need!

@uhoh-ohno: my eyebrow hairs are long enough to twirl the ends up, mustache-style. or devil-style, whatev.

oh good, i'm not the only one with eyebrow hairs that are half an inch long

@ruselkie: i know - that was a real "proud to be minnesotan" moment for me

@treecut...will cut a beech: no, i agree with you - when it comes to talking to europeans about American politics, my immediate surroundings go on Smug Alert (south park?)

@UnSeelie.: that's the one! see, i think Americans are also really funny people (not like the Canadians, though - never met a Canadian who couldn't make me laugh until it hurt!)

@ruselkie: ha! yeah, last week there was this drunken guy in Wisconsin who shot his lawnmower with a sawed-off shotgun because it wasn't working right. actually had it on the BBC News website :)

@MilointheMeadow: and for the record, the Brits and Norwegians i talk to around here have told me (with mild surprise) they've never met an American who fit that stereotype. i think most of the world wants to give us a second chance, but i also think there are reparations to be made.
