god, this enrages me. because my conception of what it means to be American *has nothing to do with bullshit like this* - we are, for the most part, a very generous, warmhearted people who are governed (ruled?) by a handful of cold and robotic opportunists.

@BitchIsTheNewBlack: Amen - kids really are weird. and i knew they were judging me!!

ooh, i totally typed my comment without reading that last part:

it's really Weird for *me* to see the girls i went to high school with get married. we graduated in '99, but single "career girl" that i am, that still seems entirely premature to me.

@summerwheatley: i'm like that, too. it's like i don't have a filter for that kind of thing. but you know what? at least people don't have to guess with us, you know? we don't play games like that :)

oh man, a detached retina ...from a dive??? ow, ouch, can´t stop thinking about the crazy amounts of pain..

Morgan Freeman - no!!! he better be ok, dammit.

i´m tired of Edie Sedgwick, Andy Warhol, and the whole Studio 54. over it. something new, please.

@amowls: i dunno, i kinda like short and stumpy Scarlett. reminds me of when i actually liked her, in Lost in Translation.

why the hell is Kim Kardashian at the teen choice awards anyway? are young women looking up to her now?

maybe there´s something up with the brightness tint on my computer screen, but sometimes with these award show pics, i scroll down and all of a sudden, OW! too bright!

@PaintedTrollop: wow, what an asshole... you deserve a Strong Woman medal or something :)

@BiBiVirtue: i kinda agree with you, although amazing single mom vs. two parent family with abusive father (for example) is not a hard choice. thing is, though, i´m sure my mom´s quality of life would have been vastly improved upon if either a) she had someone to share the burden with her, or b) didn´t have kids in

@uhoh-ohno: my dad is doing the same thing. a couple summers ago, i went to this wedding of one of my (to that point, completely unknown) cousin. half of that church was somehow related to me, and i just felt like "one of these things is not like the other" - that "thing" being me.

@BiBiVirtue: word - my dad took off while my mom was still pregnant (we´re talking first trimester..), zero child support, and she was in grad school. she´s an incredible woman (got her PhD while i was growing up too!) but jeez, the financial burden upon her was ridiculous. especially because i wasn´t the healthiest

@gherkinfiend: because men´s magazines attempt to show you how to *get* a woman, while women´s mags attempt to show you how to *keep* a man... ugh

@hollywoodenflames: exactly. i don´t see these magazines so much as a cause as they are a significant side effect of the syndrome. (did i get carried away with the illness metaphor? whatev)

@gherkinfiend: i agree - but i still have an addiction to welsh men. nice to look at.
