I’m not sure if I’m ready for an anime take on Joker and Harley, because it kind of feels like a recipe for disaster? Like we’re just going to get a toxic version of Isaac and Miria from Baccano! with zero acknowledgement of the toxicity.

“Hey, you know what people who LOVE the Fallout games (and New Vegas specifically) would love us to make next?”
Happiness was so fucking terrible, though. Not because it was transgressive--in fact, the transgression seems to convince people it must be genius. It’s just got complete contempt for its characters, horribly awkward dialog and acting, and zero recognizable human behavior.
Uh... no. Most of us went into Happiness blindly, expecting something like Welcome to the Dollhouse. The disparity between the two movies was infuriating.
Why is this an article on The Root? “There’s no telling if this Karen would have received the same treatment (if she were black).” - that’s it? There’s no real stories about actual black people being treated unfairly anymore?
Wish they had marketed it as this as well so we could have avoided it.
Thw worldbuilding was fantastic, unfortunately it’s the first part of that headline that was the issue for a lot of people (myself included). It just didn’t have the depth I wanted from an Obsidian game, certainly not after all the hype about how this was basically an unofficial New Vegas 2.
You’re right. Def cannot derive any conclusion about the author’s POV from this piece. Not at all. No snark here.
Deservedly so.
This is an aside, but I was thinking about similar things because I just watched the most recent episode of Strange New Worlds, a show I actually generally enjoy as a long-term Trek fan, and found it to be—“a hot mess” would be generous.
I know nothing about Savage but I do know that the last thing I would ever want to do is hang out with “friends” who gossip about me in interviews to promote their stupid podcast.
Love this show but yeah, Difficult People was its own special thing
Confusing? Not really. Hard to watch? Yeah.
Well yeah. She’s a dropout and the film is a train wreck of half-baked metaphors
It always seemed to me that “innocent until proven guilty” just means you’re not going to face legal consequences like prison until you get a trial. I think it’s still fine to for example, believe OJ Simpson is a murderer.
“Not wanting FF to be an action series is gatekeeping” is a pretty horrible and mean-spirited argument, I have to say. That’s really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
The funny thing is that I am a massive Monster Hunter fan, and I’ve enjoyed the Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden games. To me, FFXVI does not scratch the same itch as those three series do when it comes to action games. I don’t play those games for some 20+ hours of story cutscenes. The action is the point. I don’t play…
Is the title of this article meant to be misleading? It makes her sound more like a soulless lobbyist than a research scientist.
If she’s determined to prove something, I’d be worried about confirmation bias.
