May I point out that the votes were divided between 24 diverse Democratic representatives and 17 white Republicans?

It truly doesn’t matter who’s on Trump’s legal team.  It could be a gaggle of 1st year pre-law students; the Senate’s not going to impeach him, they’ve already said as much.  It’s chock-full of people who’re ready to toss their sworn duty aside for their Glorious Leader.

Just don’t underestimate the pack mentality and it’s play in the media — you can split hairs all you want but these guys have made their career on obfuscating and getting their way. This may be unconscionable but it’s also game play -- in a game where their opponents don’t think of it as a game at all.

It’s definitely to help the court assess whether the juror is a “good fit”for the trial (remembering that prosecutors and defense attorneys have their say), though I’m skeptical of where the judge lands on what a “reasonable” or unbiased answer is to this question
