Did you have an XB1 controller and was it wireless or wired? If it was wireless then it probably was the XB1. If it was wired then it was the PC as there isn't a way to hook up a wireless XB1 to the PC yet (or no commercial way).

I've put over 100 hours into D3. I've put quite a few hours into Gauntlet now. They play literally nothing alike and do not have even remotely close to the same objectives.
