I’d say I experience 20-30% worse gas range in the dead of winter compared to summer... 20% on long trips, 30% on short.

This has to be controlled for conditions to make any kind of point.

People who complain about electric cars in cold weather fail to acknowledge that ICE cars struggle with cold weather as well. I have a 2015 GTI and most of my driving is 5-10 mile trips. To be clear: this only applies if the batteries have been soaking in the cold weather long enough. If you park in an enclosed garage each night, the reduced range effect isn’t as pronounced. Right?

You may know this, but Top Gear was around WAY before the Clarkson Hammond May era. They just happened to make the show have far greater fame. It went through a ton of hosts before and I suspect it will continue to go through hosts for a while still. As long as there is a motoring show going on though, I’ll be happy.
