I’m with you. Here in Colorado it’s still under $3. Hit close to 3 last year, but it’s been near $2.50 for a while. I remember it hitting 3 and I was upset with my mostly economical car...

Where are they getting the $4-5 gallon BS? I know California is there but what about the rest of the US? I paid $2.06 a gallon and I’m just 3 hours south of Detroit. And I doubt they that much more.
That would be a stinging rebuke if Jalopnik gave Tesla shit for making EVs, and not, you know, issues with their business practices.
lol ... I’m going to try to lead off future comments sections by preemptively complaining about the people who complain about Tesla fans. e.g...
You should get greyed for trying to make “Musk-holes” happen.
Cue the Tesla apologists:
You realize your two “good” examples are heavily modified, right?
I totally agree with you. I said it looked more Tonka Truck than Defender, which is a bad thing. Funny enough, it’s the same issue I had with the FJ cruiser compared to the old FJ’s. Toyota made it cartoony and I really didn’t enjoy that. I think like the Cruiser, this probably won’t get as much popularity until after…
Non of the old Defenders you show are standard.
Thank you. Seems a bit ridiculous to complain about the wheel travel of a stock vehicle by comparing it to two images of heavily modified ones.....
Directly converting car prices is extremely misleading, and Jalopnik should stop it immediately.
You saw it recharges nearly 200 miles in range in less than 30 minutes, correct? Plan a stop in the middle around lunch and it wont even feel like you are losing any time at all
Exactly. Regulation is not nationalization. Standards are our friends, not the enemy. Going on with the analogies, if Exxon, Shell and Chevron teamed up with Ford with a proprietary fuel mix, the lawyers would have a field day. But we seem to have agreed to the mixes available today, E-85, regular, and high octane,…
Great summary of the possible business case for Lyft here.
Just dismiss this guy’s comments. He’s clearly only here to have a bad faith debate and he’s only arguing with you so that people reading the comments will see what he is saying. No matter what you say he will keep moving the goalposts.
Why does it always take at least 30 minutes to complete the paperwork to rent a car? Perhaps this is how Lyft hopes to disrupt the process.
But they didn’t. The competition is for stock cars. Bugatti got obliterated by the thrust SCC who put down a speed of over 700. If you’re going to come with something other than a production model you can compete with the prototypes. Stock and a VIN or it isn’t a win.
So, basically, non-Tesla carmakers have standards?
Unfortunately a small contingent of people who want to work there seem to think they can dictate the terms of employment to their employer.
