I look at Sandusky, and all I think is he can play a young Mel Brooks.

It doesn’t matter which you start with, as they are separate stories. I will admit Mother 1 is a bit of a slog and has a ridiculous difficulty spike at the end. That was the old school RPG mindset at the time tho...
This is dumb. People are dumb.
“dawn of the final day”...
Exactly. I remember that sort of questionable optimism when Splatoon was first revealed.
I think your assessment that the fact this is a new IP from Nintendo is more than fair. I don’t think they would take the chance on something new if they didn’t think there was a future for it (or that they haven’t already done in another IP).
I know the game was never released in Japan (initially), so I’m betting the limited release has something to do with it (ala Captain Rainbow, but reverse). Gameplay similarity to Zelda probably doesn’t help distinguish things very well either. They should just change the graphics and name it Jump YoYo Zelda. Then more…
Wait until NX. I think it was too late to introduce dedicated accounts to Wiiu and 3ds, but if NX is the hybrid we are assuming it is (and with their mobile initiative) they have no reason not to. Unless they like alienating us or still think it’s 1998.
Shocked they never revisited the series in some way, but I guess its Western audience limited its exposure. Great games.
It’s a similar approach to the Bravely series IMO. It is Final Fantasy in all but name, but I’m glad series like this and Setsuna exist to scratch that classic itch.
Me too! I’ll only use it for good...
store.nintendo.com has refurbished units for $60 (or $75 with a digital version of MK7). I would bet they’ll lower the price on these too as well. Plus you get all of the benefits of new (like AR cards and a 1 year warranty). Just a heads-up for deal hunters. I’ve never been disappointed by a Nintendo refurb yet.
Those little touches make all of the difference. Of course, that could be taken out of context too...
If you haven’t seen/read it before retro studios has some cool insight into working with miyamoto on DKCR. He judged the animation movements of Donkey practically under a microscope and suggested they add the “blowing” mechanic later on. The process is just fascinating.
Awesome piece! Does anyone else share this as their favorite game of all time?
Nintendo did recently announce a new development structure for their first party offerings (making more main IP games more often with smaller teams, from what the translation looked like). I don’t know if this means they will be focusing more on 1st party offerings as a whole with the ideology that Nintendo does…
They absolutely shouldn’t. As an alum who attended during the last 2 Pearl years, most kids on campus wore hoodies for other schools... Don’t get me wrong, making the sweet 16 changed that for a while back in the day, but the only thing the school has going for it money-wise these days are the research grants they’re…
There’s the one that got dumped online way back when, but I swear there’s a more complete one that was discussed (within the last handful of months) and never shown. Of course I can’t remember where I saw it or have any plausible evidence, but yeah...
I swear I remember reading there is actually a fully completed ROM in Nintendo’s possession recently...
I feel like I played better (in the old series) with the characters who carried barrels in front of them diddy/kiddy and not up top donkey/dixie. I figured it was just weird that Donkey was the DKC headliner but always getting kidnapped...
