I drive a Spitfire. Or an MGB. Or a TR4 or TR8 or Jag XJ6. I also was in the bike industry as a racer or shop employee/manager for over 20 years. A person driving a Mini Moke, or Amphicar, or some other not exactly sane car will be a great person to chat up at the gas station, etc.

It’s great, but the highlight imo was 1993 and then 1994 when Penske had Ilmor build engines under the Mercedes guise and blew away the field. Also, it was way more fun when the snakepit was still in existence, and the entire month from the first week to the race was filled with race practice, qualifying, and events.

Dad has a black 92 coupe with tan interior, a 308 GT4, and a 308 GTS. Everyone says they are junk. Well, they drive great, sound great, run great, and dad got them all for under 90k. We love them.

Who cares about the HP, what is the increase in torque and where? How different is the powerband, if at all?

Agree on the 512 TR. The E Type S3 with an auto is a bad car. The S3 E with a 4 speed is a great GT car, but not meant for carving twisties, leave that to Series 1.5. Worst car for me has been the Lotus Esprit. Any version, just not a good car. On a track, better, but on the road, I’ll pass. And we all know I live and

My Spitfire is a true NFG car. It’s about the function and the fact I’ve just done what’s needed when to keep it going. Mismatched body panels, etc. Worn interior. Thing is, I can’t wait to do the cosmetics on the car.

Even more wonderful is my mom still here to enjoy all this with my dad and I. I’m really lucky.

My mom went on a first date with dad to Lime Rock to watch SCCA races. Dad had retired from racing by then, but he always has had a live for sports cars. Mom always supported his decisions about buying whatever car My dad wanted.

Totally agree. You know I drive my 64 rear wheel HP Triumph Spitfire every day in Austin. I can’t even use all of that power in the traffic here. When the roads are clear, sitting about 5 inches off the ground doing 70mph feels like 90. It becomes about the refining of my driving, being efficient, etc. It’s a mental

I have a friend with an older Aston Martin. Got it for about $20k. Still has $120k car parts and maintenance costs though...like all these will. That BMW engine has anything more than an oil change needed, get your home equity line ready.

It’s rare that I’ve read about a car then forgotten about it. I remember reading in R&T about these, but had forgotten about them until just now. Cool find!

Well, for this year’s tour of Flanders, a paltry 1.5-2 million people lined the route. Here’s a pic of the start, and most of the route is that thick with people. http://www.steephill.tv/classics/tour-…

Go watch one of the major cycling stage races, especially in the remote mountain passes. Or a Spring Classic like Tour of Flanders or Paris Roubaix. Similar feel but way more people, and you ask “how did they all get here?”

Not productive, but fun. FYI, someone with your attitude starting mouthing off and flipping off a friend of mine and I while on a ride in the mountains of NY. My buddy is a NY State Trooper. that guy got a summons in the mail. Be careful who you harass.

I used to shout back “I have 4, but this is actually how I make my living! Nice office I have, huh?”

Bike lanes are normally full of all the road debris that gets washed, blown, etc off the main lane for cars. So to avoid getting flats or crashing due to it and then losing control and ending up under your wheels, they ride where the surface isn’t as covered with hazards.

Dude, that’s a pro cyclist who crashed in a race. Doing his job, like football players, NASCAR drivers, F1 drivers, etc. Show some respect. There are jackass drivers and there are jackass cyclists. Simple as that. Also, until the law is changed, they DO have the right to ride in the lane. So bitch at your elected

Wait, the fact the X Games paralyze the venue for over a month making it impossible to rent the track has nothing to do with it? TX State money probably isn’t much of the equation.

Actually I’m 4, so does that make me nearly famous?

I’m almost famous being in at least two pics. Thanks for putting this on!
