My last two BMWs have been pretty much flawless. 2015 335GT, 2017 X3 35i, neither went in for service for anything more than oil changes and wipers. And JDPower rated BMW above Toyota for quality this year, so your post is outdated and flat out WRONG.

None of that part sharing is a bad thing. It simply means the car was engineered by Germans, will have real technology, will handle better than any Toyota ever has, and won’t be a boring appliance. Those are good things. The more BMW and less Toyota, the better.

You say it’s wasted if it’s not taken to the track? Well this car is wasted by some moron who got a manual transmission on a track car. How many times will it have to be proven that the auto is faster until these doofuses stop getting a penis sticking up through their console to jerk off? Idiot.

That would be stupid. The B58 is plenty strong and it’s all aluminum. Japanese electronics from a 2JZ won’t play well with the cars German electronics, and forget getting the ZF8 working with it. What’s the point of a swap if it’s going to make the car slower?

I must have a TrackHawk. The leases are ridiculous though. It’s like $1200 a month for 4 years. Let’s get real Chrysler, these aren’t going to depreciate anywhere near $50k(50%) in 4 years. The original SRT8s are still selling for half their values 12 years later. I only lost $8k on my 2008 when I traded it in 2011.

The Aztek was a great idea, extremely functional and useful. If it wasn’t so ugly and had the engines from the Grand Prix (L36 and L67), it could have been a hit. I would have bought one in 2000 instead of my GP GTP if I could have gotten the 3800 supercharged motor and AWD, looks be damned.

Or be like a lot of us an move where there is no snow. Left New York for Florida and will never have to deal with the white stuff again. 🥳

Legally, once the shop worker broke the law and was cited, the shop became liable. It became gross negligence and the waiver became void. If they were smart they would just fix it, because insurance will be coming after them, and no matter how much money they have for lawyers, the insurance company has more. And they

What happened to the blowers TRD used to sell? Now instead of the R standing for Racing, it seems to stand for Ricing.

If they were Hemi and could be easily converted to US spec I’d be interested.

I had two SRT8s with that transmission. It didn’t survive the Jeep. Burned out the first gear clutches. Otherwise, decent box, strong box. Not the smartest gearbox though.

If it was automatic, I’d make an offer on it right now. I’ve been looking for an 06 Impulse Blue GTO for a while. I don’t care about the mileage. The engine’s being replaced by an LSA anyway. The tranny is too, with a 6L90,  but converting the pedals and console over is a nuisance.

So if an I4 fits, and a V6 fits, then technically a V8 should fit too. LSX MR2 anyone? With a proper automatic transmission.

Ooooh, Fieros. If he’s got an 88 GT sitting there, I’ll take it. The fastbacks look like true exotics, and 88 was the best year.

when you call a planetary automatic a slushbox, you better be talking about the fluid. With automatics shifting faster than manuals now, if anything has slow slushy shifts, it’s the stick.

My first Bimmer. 2002 540 Dinan.

They overpriced it immensely. They tried to compete with the 5 series and E class with a vehicle that didn’t justify the price. Knock off $20k across the board and people would have at least given it a look. Just wait, once the new wears off, the same thing is going to happen to the Navigator. It doesn’t even come

I’m so sick of hearing, wah wah wah, it won’t offer a manual, wah wah wah. Get over it. The manual transmission is an antiquated, obsolete, relic. It has no place in any cars in the 21st century, let alone a $70k BMW grand tourer. Kiss it goodbye, and relish the fact that the better, faster, more economic transmission

Motor Trend is saying 382hp, with an 8 speed auto. The straight 6 will have no manual. The 2.0L turbo 4 might, but it won’t stick around if it doesn’t sell in big numbers.

I’m working on a similar project on a Ford Lightning. eBay buy, that was supposed to be in good shape, isn’t. Chopped wiring, dodgy body work, unavailable parts. All the same stuff you went through. Currently dealing with the interior, then will come the mechanicals and the bodywork. Biggest difference is that I’m
