Yeah, that precisely what we have. There will be a solid red light at the crossing for 15 seconds or so when all cars must stop completely, then it’ll flash red for another 15 seconds when cars have to stop but can proceed if there’s no one in the crossing. There’s all over downtown, near bus stops, or busy streets…
In Austin we have created dedicated push-to-walk pedestrian crossings at high-volume areas. Drivers hate them because screw pedestrians, but they work.
