Where I live we don’t have yearly inspections, just when ownership changes, you can’t discount how quickly a car turns into parts or scrap when it needs $2k of repairs to get insured. That car with a value of <$3k inspected turns into a $500 parts car, or scrap.

My brother drives an early 2006 Tacoma that’s awaiting a replacement frame. He would like to get a new one because the modern equivalent trim level is a bit nicer than his with unheated cloth seats. Then there’s the fact he hasn’t had a car payment in almost a decade.

A brand new car would be nice. But I’d rather drive a 5 year old car with AC. Even though as a fellow Canadian I only use the AC 2 days a year.

You would have to be out cold to sleep through landing and re-compression.

Both cars have their merits.

There’s little chance of the price coming down, but maybe the dealer can throw in some service vouchers or something similar.

Unfortunately, there’s sound in the second video.

I gassed up at a local Costco an hour ago and it was still where it (probably) was yesterday.

Unpopular opinion:

She probably gets a stipend for travelling.

Civics and Carollas aren’t the most exciting cars by any stretch of the imagination, but they’ll take a licking and keep on ticking. Parts are cheap, working on them is easy and they will run forever.

My first car was $5k and I got a co-signer.

I went CP based on the fact you could easily find a cheaper one that you could drive without caring.

The most important detail of that story was that the plane made it’s unexpected landing on an old air force runway that had been converted to a dragstrip and racetrack. On a race weekend.

My best advice would be to do some research (obviously) and plan to include all of the incidental bits and targets of opportunity into the cost associated with any one task. Think items like gaskets or hoses that you have to remove to replace the part that needs replacing.

While obviously the kid is old enough that he should have at least a somewhat evolved sense of decency, the fact that the adults involved found this an acceptable idea is the real problem.

You either ponied up the money for the production, got the title as a favour, or you’re an actor in the production and will be taking home a percentage of the ‘take’ so you have an investment in it’s success.

The rail line in question separates the city from an industrial area that’s technically in the neighboring municipality. So lots of industrial sets up shop there to avoid taxes.

HA! The local stop light cabal would never allow it.
