Not sure about ICBC, but with MPI, you are only required to buy the bare minimum coverage, so a $500 deductible and I think $500k liability. Beyond that you can buy it from whomever you want. For most of us peasants though, there isn’t much to be gained from shopping around.

I’m sure if you look at the information, anything over a certain value already requires “additional” coverage. At least with MPI.
