Some cars suffer catastrophic failure early, some are in accidents etc. And realistically, by the time most vehicles get that mileage on them they’re essentially worthless so any failure usually results in them either being offloaded for cheap

That’s assuming you make an insurance claim at all. If one dealer had 1 car stolen, it would probably be better for them financially in the long run to just cover the loss. Making a $50,000 insurance claim on a policy that covers millions of dollars of inventory and fixed assets would easily increase premiums and

In the case of Caterpillar, the jobs that left were union ones and the ones remain are not. Make of that what you please.
